OK, I've always enjoyed the atmosphere of Wrigley Field more than any other stadium. I remember during the peak of the rebuild a few years ago, my late grandfather took me to a game in mid April that was about 32 degrees outside. The Cubs were obviously intentionally bad then. The game was nearly sold out. Every time a Cubs hitter got on base, or a pitcher got a strikeout, everyone in the stadium would stand up screaming in joy. The Cubs were blown out, and basically nobody left until the last out was made. There was something really beautiful about that dedication. I'd never been a fan of any particular team before (just a fan of the sport) but that led me to Cubs fandom.

Yeah, I think PNC is my favorite stadium, but Wrigley is my favorite place to watch a game

Which ballpark has the best area around the stadium. Gotta be Fenway, right?
august fagerstrom
2:16
Wrigley is good for this. I might be biased but Progressive Field is in a pretty awesome location. Houston's is right downtown and I like Houston's downtown
2:17
Definitely not U.S. Cellular

How different are the analytics that front offices use?
august fagerstrom
2:17
I'd say they're all getting at similar things, just perhaps taking slightly different routes to get there
Wainwright looked a lot sharper with his command, particularly the curve, that inning than the previous two
Colin
2:18
Would you take the Pirates or the Marlins OF this year? Long term?
august fagerstrom
2:18
Probably Pirates both

Who has the best rotation in the NL Central? How can I convince my panic-prone friend that the Cubs pitching staff is good?
august fagerstrom
Kvn
2:18
So you're saying Wainwright has gotten better as the game has gone on?
august fagerstrom
2:18
you sly bastard...

Wrigleyville is a good location when you're from out of town, but live in Chicago for a bit and Wrigleyville's rampant drunkenness and overpriced bars grow tiresome

2:19
Could definitely see this

MLB.tv feed froze for me :{
we're back!
2:22
Matt Adams went with "The Realist" reaction on his check swing there
Rick
2:22
how do you have mlb tv and the chat on the same window?
august fagerstrom
2:22
I watch on my TV through my Ps4

-1 defensive runs saved credit for Jordy Mercer
The Hamburglar
2:23
Mercer has got to get that
august fagerstrom
2:24
It was hit real hard, tough play, but he's gotta get a glove on it, yeah

Pirates announcers: "Exit velocity should be how fast the pitcher runs off the field when taken out of the game."
august fagerstrom
2:24
>_>
Brendan
2:24
Shouldn't there be a Pitch Speed adjustment for batted ball velocities? Isn't a harder thrown pitch going to generally lead to a faster speed off the bat?
august fagerstrom
2:25
If I recall correctly Alan Nathan did some work on this and found that something like 85% of a batter's exit velo is due to him. The pitcher's speed doesn't play a huge factr
factor*
That did not look like a swing from center
Oh. He did.
2:28
Nice pitch by Liriano there. Better take.
2:29
Wow. That was fun.

When do platoon splits normalize? Wong seems like he should never play against lefties, but when can we say that for sure?
august fagerstrom
2:32
Not sure, but it's not 200 PAs. That being said, when the splits are *that* drastic, and it's all we've got, it's hard to feel too confident in the guy
King Gyorko
2:32
Liriano is simultaneously the best pitcher and best batter today by WPA
