I don't think the Nats and Orioles are going to line up on a trade anytime soon with the ongoing MASN nightmare

Nelson Cruz an MVP candidate? With all the injuries this season, it's a miracle that the M's are still in it and he is a big reason why.

Cruz has been awesome, but with zero defensive value contributed, he's not in that mix, no

Rubby De La Rosa might be the unluckiest man in baseball. What a shame he was a top prospect too I believe.

You've got to feel for him, but there are plenty of others that have had similar hardships. Daniel Hudson re-tore his UCL in his first minor league rehab appearance from his first TJ. Gavin Floyd came back from TJ and broke the olecranon bone in his elbow twice. Jarrod Parker had his third Tommy John surgery recently. I think we take for granted how rare it is for pitchers to be able to stay healthy -- which is why fans roll their eyes when they see a durable innings eater being paid well, even if his ceiling is 200 innings of a 4.00ish ERA.

So in that line of thinking, a DH can't be an MVP? And Edgar Martinez will never be in the Hall of Fame.

Edgar Martinez should absolutely be in the HOF. You don't have to have been the most valuable player in any single season to go to the Hall of Fame. Martinez was consistently among the four or five best hitters in the league over a span of more than a decade and remained an elite hitter into his age-40 season.

If a pure DH is leaps and bounds ahead of every hitter in the league at the plate, maybe they can be in consideration, but that's not Nelson Cruz this year.

Ok I have to call it for the week. Jason chats tomorrow night at 6:30pm CT, and Jeff Thursday at 2pm.
Thanks as always, and enjoy the rest of your week!
