Greetings!
Gonna grab a water and then get this guy underway
Feel free to start asking questions.

Do Indians need to grab an OFer or relief help before Friday's deadline?
Steve Adams
3:23
I certainly would be adding an outfielder. It's nice that they've lucked into a good run from Melky, but you don't expect that to continue. If there's a cheap reliever available, sure, but I have more doubts about their outfield at present.
Marc Downs

Should the Mariners consider Marco Estrada or Gio?
Steve Adams
3:23
Estrada doesn't seem close to fully healthy. Gio would make more sense there.

Daniel Murphy. How did the rest of the NL allow him to drop right into the Cubs lap? I’m loving it!
Steve Adams
3:24
I don't really know why he wasn't claimed. The $4MM+ he was owed certainly isn't insignificant, but for a hitter of that caliber, I say pony up
Huh
3:25
Derrick Goold just tweeted Cardinals already set to give Shildt a new 3-year deal. I know they've played better, but still surprising to me
Can't be worse than Matheny was, though, so hey -- positive trends.
Alex Cobb
3:25
What kind of negative value do you think Cobb has?
Steve Adams
3:26
He might get something like 1/5 this offseason if he were a free agent. He is owed $43MM over the next three seasons.

Where does Josh Donaldson go ??? Or, stay n Tor ???
Steve Adams
3:26
Stay in Toronto, accept a qualifying offer
Michael

McCutchen hasn’t moved yet. Think he will stay?
Steve Adams
3:27
I think he gets traded before Friday
Tiger Tom

Tigers will be worse or better next season?
Steve Adams
3:28
Lots of intriguing arms moving toward the Majors, Can probably expect more games out of Miggy. And as great as V-Mart's overall career has been, it's killing them to have that poor of a hitter soaking up the bulk of their DH at-bats. He'll retire after the season.

In short: better!

do you think alex cobb make sence for boston
Steve Adams
3:29
He doesn't make sense anywhere with his current contract.

When is royals next shot at contention
Steve Adams
3:30
2021-22? I don't see them being good next season, and I don't think they've got enough in the farm for a turnaround in a couple of years. They're going to be bad for awhile, but I think fans of most teams would take that as an acceptable trade-off for Kansas City's recent run
And hey! At least the Padres inexplicably saved the Royals from themselves re: Eric Hosmer.
3:31
A's just put Brett Anderson on the DL with a forearm strain. Manaea and Anderson down in a matter of 2-3 days. Cahill still fragile. Edwin Jackson is [insert shrug emoji here].

Would like to see them add a starter.
Get Gio and bring yet another former A back into the mix!

Does bobby Evans get fired as giants GM?
Steve Adams
3:33
I'd be shocked. The Giants are pretty much the standard-bearers in terms of loyalty and front-office continuity now that the Twins cleaned house. Larry Baer recently expressed faith in the team's decision-makers.

Evans is widely respected and played a huge role in the construction of the Giants that won three World Series in five years.

Snitker is not signed for next year, but there has also been talk about him as a manager of the year candidate.
How often does a manager win that and NOT return to the next season?
Steve Adams
3:36
There's really no way out of extending him if he wins that award, even though MOTY is largely meaningless. (The award may as well be renamed to "Manager of the least likely playoff team" which is never really a sole reflection of the manager in any capacity)

If he wins it, though, they'll extend him. Would be similar to what the Twins' front office had to do with Molitor last offseason. I'm not sure Falvey and Levine were dead-set on retaining him beyond that initial year, but it's a bad look for your manager to win that award then can him/move on

3:36
If you were the Reds GM, what would you do about Billy Hamilton?
Steve Adams
3:37
It seems like Dick Williams has already been more than open to trading Hamilton, but Bob Castellni (owner) loves him and wants him to stay. Same with Harvey apparently.

There's no real defense for keeping Harvey, and I'd have moved Hamilton last offseason at the latest. But if Castellini is really handcuffing his front office and asking that they keep his favorites -- what can you do?
3:39
That may be an oversimplification of the scenario, but Hamilton should've been traded two years ago or at the very least this past offseason. The Reds have timed nearly all of the major trades poorly and simply declined to make important trades when they should have over the past year
(Iglesias, in particular, comes to mind)
Manaea
3:39
With Manaea down Gio makes too much sense for the A's, especially if it can keep him away from the Mariners. Do you see it happening?
Steve Adams
3:41
I can see a realistic chance of it happening, but I'd say the same thing of the Mariners -- and they probably are more OK taking on his remaining salary. Brewers still make some sense there. Several contenders do. Gio isn't having his best season, but he's probably as good an arm as you can expect to find between now and Friday.

Seems like the only players changing teams are on the NL side.  Is that simply because the AL teams entered dump mode earlier — i.e., before July?
Steve Adams
3:42
There's more competition in the NL at the moment. In the AL you have 2-3 teams jockeying for a Wild Card spot but much of the playoff picture is already set. That's not the case in the NL
