How early are you drafting Anderson Espinoza in a dynasty prospect draft if you have little room for management on your major league roster. For example, Blake Snell and Jose Berrios are also available, but picking those guys means I might be forced to decide keepers between them or guys like Odorizzi, Myers, Lucroy, or other good middle-tier players at the end of the year. Should I just keep drafting bpa or plan for a prospect wave around 2018? In contending now if it makes a difference

Depends on the contours of the draft. But you always ought to treat players that young and at so low a level as lottery tickets to some degree. Maybe good lottery tickets.

Do you think the Os should have said screw it and traded Machado? They just spent a fortune to field a mediocre team, and they could have completely re-stocked the farm.

It's tough for me as an O's fan, but a part of me says the O's really would have been better off rebuilding this offseason, for the simple truth that it would take a $160 million payroll to have a roster as good as last year's 81-81 team did.

The failures of the farm system in recent years has sent them on an awkward path.
Yes, they produced Machado and I like Gausman, but they're not getting much in the way of depth from the farm.
And buying depth is a very expensive game.
