I think throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks is the best approach for a rebuilding team.

The White Sox have gone from one of the worst defensive teams in baseball last year, to the best so far this year. Their pitching staff has held opponents to 1 run or less in 9 of 19 games. It's been a pretty remarkable turn around.

The "Value" leaderboard is quite fun. Cedric Hunter turned his great spring training into a 13 game stint with the Phillies, cost them $4.8 million, and was promptly sent down, probably never to be seen from again. That's quite the feat.
