Those flyers were absolutely free.
I've been on record as saying that when there's no obvious candidate, random minor leaguers with at least a chance of doing something are good candidates.

He might - it's one of the years where the big named AL guys aren't having huge years. Problem is I don't think he's gotten the Crazy Closer press that seems to need to happen for a closer to get it these days
