Why are people so frustrated with Sept 1 roster rules? Because it slows the game? Who cares if you use 18 pitchers, if you have them; who is this hurting? I'm sure the bubble-fringe guys appreciate the end-of-year bonus for being in the ML.

NL Manager of the year seems to be a shoe in for Maddon.. The AL isn't quite so clear.. do you see it coming down to the three division winners or Tito, Banister, whoever wins the AL East and Buck?

Seems to go to the team that most beats expectations and also makes the playoffs, which is Banister.
In the NL, there really aren't many surprsies, so Maddon obviously gets it

Though I have to be fair here, the voting is slowly improving, especially on the year-end awards that don't have a heavy load of legacy voters.

Slusser and now Gould and writers like Jeff Passan have done a lot to improve the culture of BBWAA and modernize it.
The year-end awards are getting better and time will eventually make the Hall vote better.

What does the MVP case against Trout look like? Saying it's just "the Angels didn't make the playoffs" seems a little too reductive, since I'm sure the people who vote against him have thought things through and have a well-reasoned answer, even if many people here disagree. What is it about not making the playoffs that renders him ineligible, in their minds?
