Craig, what is the Pete Kozma comment for?

How long was that top of the 7th?
Dave Cameron
11:14
33 minutes, I believe.

Why do they need to televise god bless america? Seriously, what is the point?
Sean Dolinar
11:15
It doesn't count for the commercial break time.
Benjamin Dover
11:15
What do you think about enforcing a 2 batters faced minimum for pitchers?
Dave Cameron
11:15
Unenforceable
Can't tell a potentially injured pitcher he has to keep working
And teams could just have a guy say his arm hurts to do one batter exchanges
Trusty Dusty
11:16
MLBPA wouldn't go for it either.
CTMike
11:17
How many outs would you want Kenley to get? Last 5?
Dave Cameron
11:17
6
Matt

Adam Jones has a 95 wRC+ vs L and 112 vs R with 1500+ PA vs LHP. He doesn't have a reverse split every year, but certainly more years than not. That enough to trust?

11:18
You called it Dave, Dayton
Dave Cameron
11:18
He's their best non-Jansen reliever.
Craig Edwards
11:18
1/6 of his PA against lefties are against Sabathia, Price and Lester.
Well, Actually...
11:18
Blanton?
Dave Cameron
11:18
Dayton is better

11:19
Dave, that's a fallacy that a 2-batter rule would be abused. Social science research in general suggests that cultural values/norms are more important in enforcing rules of that nature. If it were accepted and agreed upon and appropriate processes were put around it, it would work.
Dave Cameron
11:19
Yeah, the don't-flip-your-bat cultural norm in baseball is really effective.
11:20
Jansen is warming!
mtsw
11:20
"the next pitcher who comes in to replace an 'injured' guy gets no warm up pitches from the mound" would be enough of a penalty to discourage teams from doing it, no?
Dave Cameron
11:20
Players aren't going to go for anything that could endanger player health. Not letting a guy warm up on the mound could.

On the two batter minimum for a reliever. If there's an injury require a DL stint (or maybe have a modified 5 or 10 day DL where the pitcher has to sit out a certain # of games)?
Dave Cameron
11:24
Then you'll just have pitchers who don't want to go on the DL pitching through something they would otherwise come out for.
You can like the idea all you want, but there are too many bad incentives related to player health for it to ever work.
