Just got yelled at by someone saying Cain would be better than Trout this year and no. Cain never had more than 500 PA before last year and is now 30. I sold my only share.

Are teams built as unit or as a collection of individual players? For example, if a team got good power from its middle infielders, would that free them up to target different skill sets from the traditional power positions?

Only on the fringes I think. You build / draft for any talent you can get. Once they in the big leagues, you adjust. Like the Cubs right now are probably trying everything they can to find good relievers and starters on the cheap.

Tanaka has been dreadful this ST. Nothing fastball takes surprise out of splitter. Coming off elbow surgery and has a frayed ulnar collateral something-or-other. You have him 10th among AL starters. Figure he's saving his bullets for the season? Girardi seems reluctant to name him opening day starter.

Pitched okay in the rain. Some guys have told me they don't get the same adrenaline boost in spring than in the regular season. Not saying he needs that to be good, but I'm not worried... yet.

What's your take on Kenta Maeda? He doesn't have overpowering stuff, but has looked fantastic this spring. Not a high K guy, but can he at least post a K/9 in the 7 range?
