I'm not sure they'd develop worse! There are better coaches in the major leagues! The only thing is that confidence would be affected. Confidence matters, and if you have a bad start against MLB competition, it might stunt your growth.

I don't think it works like this. I think that all that matters to Beane is the offer he gets for Gray, and I think people are too prone to recency bias to offer up a great package for Gray right now.

I was wondering if you had an opinion about something John Smoltz said on MLB TV the other day. He mentioned that when you have great stuff you don't have as much of a need for great command. Then he said that because there are so many pitchers right now with electric stuff, command is at a low league-wide. Thoughts?
