What do you do this offseason if you are the Giants?  A teardown doesn't seem to be in the cards, just sign a few guys and pray?  I just don't see how they get good....

Got a piece about this coming Friday on The Athletic, on how bad they actually are. There are some indications they aren't as bad as we think. Add some offense, Cueto returns to some form and gives them a real number two... 85 win team? Not impossible.

Another Ranger question. With what Claudio has shown over the last several weeks do you think he has a chance to enter next season as the closer? Or do you think Kela or Bush takes a run at the job?

I can't imagine that a guy that throws at Claudio's velocity will remain a closer for long. He also has an arm slot that should lead to big platoon splits.

I don't know if you saw Derrick Goold's post on cutters, but he opines that it's a high - risk, high - reward pitch. Should the league as a whole increase, decrease or stay the same with regards to cutter usage?

I've written extensively on this, and it's hard to sum up except to say: there are at least three types of cutter. One, the cut fastball where you just change the seams a bit, I don't think it's very risky. The other two are risky for velocity because you start to get around the ball and lose some velo because you're not behind the ball the same way.
