Looking more and more like Funkhouser's season is done. The good news is he's recovering just fine from the elbow scare, but he was looking really good and back like the prospect everyone expected him to be when drafted. Encouraged by his season?

Encouraged by the uptick in stuff he experienced pre-injury (especially with the changeup) but discouraged by the injury.

Michael Hermosillo turned it around after a slow start at AA and is now at AAA doing quite nicely. Does he have a reasonable shot as a MLB regular?

He's interesting. Raw feel to hit. I'd be surprised if he were ever more than a 40 hitter. But he's a good athlete with a two-sport background and he's from the midwest, sometimes it takes a bit longer for this type of player to put it together. I think it's more likely he's a bench outfielder than  a regular but he's a prospect.

Have you had a chance to see JP Crawford recently?  Seems like hes made some kind of adjustment.

Saw him in May and thought he looked okay, couldn't see anything indicative of his horrendous start. It sounds like he's finally finding comfort with his footwork in the box, something he's constantly tinkered with as a pro. I think he's going to be fine. I'm down on him compared to how I had him evaluated last offseason but still think he'll be a good everyday player.

Is Jorge Ona not quite as toolsy as he looked before signing? While he has a good BA, he's a relatively advanced 20 year old in A-. Do his tools actually play as more middling?
Eric A Longenhagen
1:42
More middling on paper. Hasn't gotten to all of the raw power, he keeps opening up toward the 3B line and it's hard for hhim to drive the ball the other way
Outta my way, Gyorkass

You had mentioned Phil Bickford's early results since returning from his drug suspension in your prospect notes today - what do you think of him long term? Does he have a future with MIL, or is he a guy that the Brewers eventually leave unprotected from Rule 5 and wind up losing in a crowded system?
Eric A Longenhagen
1:44
He could be a #4. Fastball mostly 90-93, I've seen him reach back for as much as 95 but not recently. Stuff was up last outing compared to the one before it so maybe it will keep trending that way. It plays up due to deception/extension. He'll flash an above average slider. Changeups are rare. He's going to need a third pitch and continue to spot the fastball.

I think the next big WAS prospect is Yasel Antuna. Yea or nay?
Eric A Longenhagen
1:44
I got to say the nay no my damie.

Have you seen the Indians top 3 draft picks Q.Holmes, T.Freeman and J.Rodriguez in the AZL? How did they look?
Eric A Longenhagen
1:46
Holmes looks predictably raw, Freeman is polished and effective but not overly toolsy, Rodriguez I've only seen once.

18 yr old Hudson Potts has been hitting bombs this year. Are you a believer? Besides the strikeouts, what are the flaws in his game?
Eric A Longenhagen
1:46
I am. Good defensive infielder who has grown into some power.

Is Rowdy Tellez done as a prospect? Rough year.
Eric A Longenhagen
1:47
No. I'm a Tellez skeptic but a bad year at Triple-A from a 22-year old is not a death sentence.

You listed Daniel Flores, catcher,  as a top Red Sox  prospect. The link to him shows a pitcher in the Mexican league. Please tell me something about YOUR D Flores. Thanks

How do you feel about Chris Seise?
Eric A Longenhagen
1:48
Love how smooth he is at short for his size, haven't seen him do much with the bat.

Who is the pitcher in the Mariners system that has the highest ceiling? Highest floor?
Eric A Longenhagen

Ceiling: Carlson
Floor: Hultzen
Sorry, Neidert.

Marc Hulet has written that McMahon's arm is wasted at 1B...  does he have the range to be in a corner OF spot (a la Hoskins) or 3B (in a world without Arenado?)
Eric A Longenhagen
1:50
Yeah, I think he's athletic enough to play an OF corner.
He just doesn't have the hands for 2B

Which Yankees high-ceiling prospect do you prefer more, and why? Luis Medina or Jorge Guzman? Thank you.
Eric A Longenhagen
1:50
Guzman. There are strikes already.

What are your thoughts on Fringe Five faves Tim Locastro and Pedro Avila?
Eric A Longenhagen
1:51
Wrote up Avila on yesterday's daily notes, Locastro is all Carson's, not on him.

KLaw recently said that he could see Cristian Pache settling in with ~20 HR power. Do you concur?
Eric A Longenhagen
1:52
That's probably on the high end of what I think is possible but Pache has the frame to add that kind of strength.
1:53
BTW, Keith made me get up early to go on the BBTN pod today: http://www.espn.com/espnradio/play?id=20417723
Send Carson good vibes on Twitter for turning them around so quickly.

Bryon Buxton has been otherworldly since July. Has he arrived? If he maintains this type of offense and defense next season...where would that put him in the league for value compared to others? Top 50, 20, 10..?
Eric A Longenhagen
1:55
I really hope he has because it will give me someone to point to and say, "Remember what we said? Please be patient with Prospect X when he struggles at the big league level for a while."
