Luke Adams
11:31
Hey guys, get those questions in now and we'll start at 12:15pm CT!
11:32
Today's chat will be slightly shorter than usual (45 minutes instead of a full hour), but we'll be introducing a second weekly chat starting this Thursday with another Hoops Rumors writer, Dana Gauruder. So if I'm not able to get to your question today, you'll have another shot in a couple days!
12:15
Alright, let's do this...
Chris
12:15
What is Grant's supposed list of teams his representatives would consider a trade to. And do you think players requests like this are b.s.
Luke Adams
12:16
Brian Windhorst, who said on his podcast that Jerami Grant's reps provided a list of preferred destinations, unfortunately didn't offer any specifics on those teams. I'd assume the higher a team is in the standings, the more likely they are to show up on that list.
12:18
As for the merit of those requests, I don't see the harm in them, especially if they're not made public -- and especially if both sides understand the situation. If they trade Grant, the Pistons will probably want to try to get him somewhere where he'll be happy, but Grant's camp has to recognize that the Pistons' best offer could come from another team.

12:19
Embiid for MVP? If he keeps this up and plays enough games?
Luke Adams
12:19
Sure, he's in the running. I think Jokic might be the frontrunner at this point, though it'll be interesting to see how many voters support him if Denver doesn't move up from 6th in the West.
Magic man
12:20
Do you see the Orlando Magic trading Bamba/ Ross or Harris expiring contract to any contenders before deadline?
Luke Adams
12:21
Ross and Harris are more likely to be on the move than Bamba. He'll be restricted, so the Magic could take that situation into the offseason and maybe re-sign him to a team-friendly deal or get something back in a sign-and-trade.
Damian
12:21
What do you think is the best return the Pistons can reasonably expect from a Grant trade at the deadline?
Luke Adams
12:22
There have been reports that Detroit wants a return like Orlando got for Aaron Gordon (a first-round pick + RJ Hampton), but I bet they'll push for something close to the Vucevic return (two first-rounders + Wendell Carter).
12:23
I don't think they'll get a package like the Vucevic one, but I bet they exceed the Gordon return. Maybe one first-rounder and a really good prospect (someone valued higher than Hampton), or two first-rounders and a minor prospect.

12:23
Rubio, Windler and 2 second round picks in next year's Draft for Buddy Hield?
Luke Adams
12:24
Think it'll take more than to get Buddy. His value is somewhat limited because of his contract, but the Kings are still trying to make the playoffs this season. They'd want someone who can help with that push.

12:25
Are the 76ers smart by keeping Ben Simmons until the offseason? Or are they wasting a great season by Joel
Luke Adams
12:28
I can see both sides of the argument. Trading Simmons is their best chance to turn their roster into something close to championship-caliber, so they really can't afford to get it wrong. Even if they end up "wasting" this season by not moving Simmons right away, that'd be better than wasting a few more years by accepting 50 cents on the dollar for one of their best assets.

12:28
Has Willie cleared Waivers?  Is he still out for " Personal Reasons " ?   Kind of miss seeing him out on the Hardwood.
Luke Adams
12:29
Yep, he's cleared waivers and he's a free agent. I have no insight to what his personal reasons are, but it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up sitting out the season and trying to catch on with a team for the start of 2022/23.

The article posted yesterday did not specify the Warriors plan IF their only Center, Kevon Looney, were to get Injured before Draymond and James Wiseman return.  I guess one of their 8 Guards can play Center ?
Luke Adams
12:30
They could bring in someone on a two-way contract if they really need to -- they may not want to part with anyone on their 15-man roster, but I don't get the sense that Quinndary Weatherspoon or Chris Chiozza are must-keeps.
Eric from LA
12:30
Who says no to a John Collins for Marcus Smart/Josh Richardson deal?
Luke Adams
12:31
I doubt Atlanta would do it, though I do like Smart for them. He's the sort of player who would be a great fit next to Trae.

12:31
Thank you for your time today.  Which Pacers players, based on what you are hearing, would you expect get moved by the deadline?  Will the pacers get their asking price (more or less).
Luke Adams
12:33
Caris LeVert is probably the best bet to be dealt at this point. I still think a Myles Turner trade is more likely than something involving Sabonis, but his health is such a question mark that I'm just not sure the Pacers are going to get the sort of offer they want.
12:34
I believe the Pacers' asking price for LeVert was reported to be two first-round picks or a first-rounder and a young player. I can't see them getting two first-rounders, but they should be able to get one.

Any more in-season firings for head coaches?
Luke Adams
12:35
Frank Vogel is the only one who appears to be in any immediate danger. I'd say he's about 50/50 to finish the season safely.
I'd be surprised if anyone else is fired before the spring, but I guess you never know if a 10-game losing streak is around the corner for some unsuspecting team/coach.

12:35
Are there any under the radar teams you'd like to see make a splashy move to try and win a ring this season?
Luke Adams
12:38
Any team that's conceivably one move away from competing for a ring probably doesn't qualify as "under the radar," but... let's say the Hornets. They're not winning a title this year, but if they brought in an impact frontcourt player, they could be in play for a top-five seed in the East and maybe win a playoff series. That'd be a huge step forward for a team that last made the postseason in 2016.

Are the Clips stuck in the play-in field or is there something they can do, someone they can add, to bolster their chances of moving up?
Luke Adams
12:41
Outside of getting Kawhi and Paul George back on the court, I don't foresee any major additions for them. And I don't think it would make sense to try to do any real buying. I know they don't have incentive to tank since they don't own their first-round pick, but this isn't the year to go all-in either. They need to get healthier.

12:41
In order for the sixers to facilitate a sign and trade for harden this summer, wouldn’t it be easier if they traded Simmons for more tradeable contracts like Barnes and hield at this deadline?
Luke Adams
12:43
I guess it depends how the Nets feel about Simmons, but if Harden wants to leave, Simmons + additional assets would be a far better return than most teams get for a departing free agent. And the Nets could always trade Simmons themselves later if they want to turn him into role players or other assets (think Golden State taking back D-Lo for Durant, then trading him a few months later).
Miles Bridges
12:44
How much will I get as a restricted free agent this summer? I think I'm worth at least in the neighborhood of what John Collins got last year (5yrs-$125MM). I bet Charlotte wishes it offered me more in extension talks before the season started.
Luke Adams
12:45
Something between $20-25MM per year feels right, either for four or five years. Maybe you'll get exactly what the other Bridges (Mikal) did -- $90MM for four years.

12:45
Which Bull is more likely to get dealt? White or Williams?
Luke Adams
12:46
It's a good question. I know reports have indicated that White is more available and that the Bulls don't want to trade Williams. But if the Bulls are in win-now mode, it makes more sense for them to trade an injured prospect than one of their top healthy guards.
12:47
I think I'd lean Williams, to answer your question.
