Think I have a shot at HOF? I think I do if I can ever win a &$@$ Norris. Your thoughts?

Stay healthy, Kris. Stay healthy, and you have my vote. I know the production will be there.

What has been your take on Zach Aston-Reese so far? And what is your rough projection of him? Top 6, hornqvist type, or, bottom six complementary piece?
Jason Mackey

He has been OK thus far. Just OK. Has blended in at times. Has been good and smart around the net at others. I don't see him as a top-six guy right now, but maybe by the middle of the season. He's not far away, I know that. But from what I've seen, some of the inconsistency leads me to believe that he'd be better served carving up the AHL for a few months before making the jump.

Why is Kessel always first on the list of high contracts to be traded?  An albeit foolish perhaps argument could be made that Letang might be worth shopping around to get a decent return.

I think because they have so many younger, cheaper wingers internally with Sheary, Guentzel, Rust, Sprong, Aston-Reese, etc. I also think the Kessel trade talk is overblown. It makes no sense to trade him now. When Sprong and Aston-Reese are developed, and you have that group plus maybe Archibald ... that's when I'm cool seeing what I can get for Phil. No way do I trade Letang. Plus, I worry what other teams would be willing to give up based on his injury history.

If AA ends up in the KHL and Detroit elects to keep Sheahan, do the Penguins have other guys they're looking at? I've heard Spooner.
Jason Mackey

Rutherford says he's targeted three guys. Remember, too, Detroit could still move Sheahan even if AA bolts. It's not like that's the move that would keep them from contending for a Cup; they're a ways away. I've heard Spooner some, too, although not a lot.

Have the Penguins tried to pry AA away from Detroit?
Jason Mackey

Not that I'm aware of.

I think Schultz is a better PP QB than Letang.  Would it cause a problem if Letang was on the 2nd PP?  He seems like he can be surly at times.

Yeah, I don't think Letang would like that very much, but that's not a reason to do something or not to do it. My take: You start with Letang because of his stature and go from there. If they produce, great. If they don't, you're within your rights to go to Schultz. I just think Letang deserves first crack.

The Pens overall roster seems to be getting younger, which arguably is a good thing.  I'll bet nobody, even GMJR, can name the three oldest players currently rostered (without looking)...it used to be easy - Cullen, Kunitz, Hainsey

It is definitely getting younger. I actually had a conversation with Rutherford just now about that. He's been thoroughly impressed with the youth movement he's seen since the rookie event in Buffalo.

Kostopoulos, Haggerty, Gardiner, Quinney, Zink, Taylor and Maguire to WBS. Jordy Bellerive back to junior.

Live in D.C.  Caps radio is excited for this season...they have high expectations!  I just laugh...

Don't they always? To be fair, I think Washington is going to be very interesting. Some considerable shakeup. Maybe it's what they needed. They've sure needed somethinv.
OK, folks. That does it. Have plenty more to do today. Thanks for hanging out and chatting. Appreciate you guys caring about this every week. Let's do this again next Thursday.
