Dustin Fowler could be a Rookie of the Year candidate

The trade deadline featured a huge difference in valuation between pitching and hitting.  Will that carry over into the offseason?  Or was the 2017 trade deadline somehow unique?
Jeff Sullivan
10:09
I think pitching always fetches a premium around the deadline because playoff teams know they could leverage pitcher playing time in October
Less obvious to see yourself as a playoff team in the offseason

Could a team, hypothetically speaking, funnel money to Ohtani through Darvish? I.e. Could someone put in an increased bid to Darvish, with the "understanding" that Darvish will help out Ohtani by, say, buying him a mansion, or paying for all his meals?
Jeff Sullivan

Congratulations, you're the Braves. Good luck with your sanctions!

What do my dear dear Athletics do this off-season?  Just wait for Chapman, Olson, Barreto et al. to mature, or try to flip veterans like Lowrie or Davis for younger talent?
Jeff Sullivan
10:11
I think it's all about hoping for the young starters to pitch like capable young starters
I think they'll also try to move Khris Davis permanently to DH in an effort to improve the overall defensive picture, but is trading Ryon Healy a blockbuster?

Can Profar regain any of his former #1 prospect glory?
Jeff Sullivan
10:11
He can, in theory, but I doubt that he will
Dan Quinn
10:12
An opinion on Darvish tipping his pitches?
Jeff Sullivan
10:13
I wouldn't be surprised if the Astros had something. Their swings were atypically comfortable
Maybe it was just the ball. Darvish's slider in Game 3 was truly bad. But he couldn't miss bats at all. Too strange

Of all the playoff teams, which do you think has the biggest holes or challenges to get back to playoffs?
Jeff Sullivan
10:13
Well, of course it's the Twins, but they probably don't count, to you
10:14
I think the Cubs will have a lot of work to do. I still think they'll win the division next year, but they need to add

It's new manager season now, and so far the only retread is Gardenhire, yes?  WAS, NYM, PHI, BOS ... all first time mangers.  NYY is still open, sure, but there's clearly a trend
Jeff Sullivan
10:15
Teams love first-time managers because they're the easiest managers to control

10:16
Can teams really view Eduardo Nunez as a utility player able to backup the middle infield?
Jeff Sullivan
10:16
They can, but they'd all prefer that he handle mostly 3B and LF
There's value in a guy having middle-infield experience, just so he knows all the various machinations. But even with his experience, Nunez is an obvious MI liability
Kiermaier's Piercing Green Eyes

Is the market for slugging 1B/DH types like it was last year, where even the Rays could give LoMo a few million to be a league average player?
Jeff Sullivan
10:18
Morrison, Duda, Alonso, Napoli, Hosmer, Santana, Moreland, Valencia, Lind...there are a lot of home runs for teams to sign
Sparks-ATX
10:18
Where does Cozart end up? teams should be interested in him to play SS for the next few years.
Jeff Sullivan
10:19
I could actually see him staying on a QO
James
10:19
Do the astros make a move for a LF or do they roll with Marwin/ Derek Fisher and hope Kyle Tucker moves along quickly?
Jeff Sullivan
10:20
I think the Astros might try to do something huge, like Stanton, and then if that doesn't work, they'll settle for keeping what they already have
Bort
10:20
It seems like the Dodgers are all-in on Austin Barnes (yay!) and they have Kyle Farmer able to back him up. If they put Grandal on the block, who could you see being interested?

Should I sign a true #3 starter? What will get us past the first round next year?
