Do players get upset for undervaluing their free agent seasons during the latter parts of extensions? Was looking at Ryan Zimmerman's contract details and he was coming off a 275/344/465 season and was going into the first year of a 6 year/$100 million extension. He probably could have gotten more. We've heard McCutchen isn't happy, but do other guys feel similar?

Sometimes, but I think they mostly understand the pros and cons of the extensions when they're signed. And to whatever extent salaries are a scale of "respect" then players just want to make sure their extensions look similar to other extensions. There are naturally going to be differences between FA-year salaries and FA-year salaries as part of a longer-term contract
