Why was Gilden fired at North Catholic?
Mike White
11:36
I have no idea total reasons. Apparently school didn't like some things going on.

Honey - do you really think I stand a chance at the Clairton job?  I try to read all you articles.  Make sure you're home for dinner by 6 my dear...
Mike White
11:38
Honey, you're play calling is unmatched and you are always offensive. Do we need milk?
Joe

I've seen NA, Central and Pine Richland this year.......No one beats PR......
Mike White
11:40
I agree. But they will get challenged at some point this year. Take a team like Central. I think their defense is still pretty decent. And come playoff time, teams improve. Don't overlook Bethel either. Pine plays at Bethel next week. Then Central. Penn Hills this week. Geez oh man, with the lack of quality games so far in WPIAL, we could make  Pine the game of the week three weeks in a row.

Do you see any more veteran coaches leaving this year?  Render???  Walker???
Mike White
11:41
Palko maybe. I say Render sticks around another year. I don't know anything about Walker. Art is still  spry.

Knoch has Highlands, South Fayette then Montour next 3 weeks.  Metal will be tested for sure. Seems 4a has a lot of interesting games and match ups in the coming weeks..
Mike White
11:43
Good.

Nice to see a good guy like John LeDonne get a real chance with Penn Hills......and proving he is a good coach.....do you think Shaler has even a prayer of righting the ship?  Walker to a college?
Mike White
11:47
Well Penn Hills is certainly a tad different than Shaler. Amazing how much better of a coach you are when you have some players. But it's three games. We'll see what happens when they play Pine this week. Will Shaler right the ship? Depends what righting the ship is? Playoffs? Not even close. You have to feel for them. They are over their heads in the Northern Seven. But the new guy Jim Ryan seems to be willing to put time in and keep plugging along. I think three wins in a season would probably be great for them one of these years.

Finally saw Jurkovec live Friday night.  Man, that kid can play.  Threw one bomb in stride with the flick of a wrist.  He should be well rested when he gets to ND as he might not see many 4th quarters this year.
Mike White
11:48
Yeah, he's OK. Thing that's good is that he's not running as much as previously. 12 times in three games. That's good. He got beat up. Good that they're saving him.

what did north hills prove in their OT loss to West a?  Is NH a contender?
Mike White
11:50
They proved they are a decent team. But a contender? For what? Third place in the conference? They play a decent Fox Chapel team this week. NHills loses, they can only hope for fourth place. Go figure. North Hills scores lot of points against Shaler. Then again, who doesn't? NH offense doesn't look good against USC. Then they almost beat West A.

What's your under the radar good game this week? I'm thinking Apollo Ridge - Shady Side Academy...
Mike White
11:51
I'm thinking not.
How about Carmichaels at West Greene?? If you really want under the radar. West Greene is 3-0. Haven't made playoffs since 1993.
Joe

I really don't like the 6A sections and would rather have stayed at 4......I don't know why they did it except for monetary reasons......I'm told that the expense of Heinz Field is enormous........wonder if they will ever go back and put the championships at the HS?
Mike White
11:53
The PIAA did it. Not the WPIAL. I don't really have a strong opinion on it. In a lot of ways, I have no problem with 6A. And yes, Heinz Field is not cheap. They usually like to have 18,000 to 20,000 to cover costs and make a little money also.

Anybody in WPIAL play more crazy games than McKeesport the last two years? Crazy
Mike White
11:54
Good point. The Zane Dudek game last year. The win with a Hail Mary Pass. The crazy loss in WPIAL championship. The loss in first game with one second left. Yes, good point, Guest.

Hi Mike, a little late this week. Only one question - any take aways from the PCC-NA game? Bad offense or good defense? Also, hear lots about PCC opening up the passing game. Will Coach Totten really open it up?
Mike White
11:56
Terry Totten has never thrown much, no matter who he has. He believes running is the way you win. Mix in some pass. And you can't argue with as much as they have won. But no doubt I think everyone would like to see a little more passing, including me.
11:59
OK people. Geez the questions never stopped coming today. Great. I hear a turkey sandwich calling my name, gotta go. Everyone be good.
