Hey everyone, hope you're having a good afternoon!

Will Dunning get traded after signing Eovaldi?
Anthony Franco
4:02
Could see it if it nets them the corner outfield help they still need, but I don't think they need to force anything. deGrom, Heaney, Eovaldi and Gray all have spotty injury track records, so stockpiling depth makes sense
Dewey
4:03
Trying to figure out Dever's trade value, given that he has only one year of team control.  Multiple Top 100 prospects?
Anthony Franco
4:03
Think it's more one top 100 type and then a couple notable mid-tier guys from a system. I doubt the Red Sox trade him before the start of the season anyways
Mack B

Two-part question… First, which names for the Blue Jays for the remaining pieces they need to add this off-season? And second do you think that all three of Merrifield, Espinal and Biggio will be with the team come Opening day? Thanks for your time!
Anthony Franco

Could use another middle innings reliever, even if just David Phelps back, and a back-end starter. Rotation market was mostly picked through in free agency so maybe that doesn't come to fruition, but I'd still try to gauge trade possibilities with Cleveland, Minnesota, etc.
AA's pocketbook
4:06
With the Braves hitting the lower luxury tax limit, do they dare try to extend Fried now?  They have hit it, why not go for broke?  It looks like they have another ~15M to go before the next limit, as long as the AAV of the Fried deal doesn't go over ~26ishM, what's stopping them?
Anthony Franco
4:06
Agreed, now that they've proven they're willing to go past the CBT, a Fried extension feels like the logical next goal
4:07
Doesn't mean they'll necessarily come to an agreement, since he's already deep in arbitration and doesn't have to take a particularly notable discount at this point. But I assume they'll try it this spring and given their track record in that regard, wouldn't surprise me at all if they get it done

The Reds need a veteran starter. Who fits the bill?
Anthony Franco
4:08
Wacha and Cueto are probably the best players left. Don't really think Cincinnati's going to get either, though. A lower-cost Dylan Bundy or Zach Davies type feels likelier with their spending constraints
Scott A.
4:09
What are the Padres going to do for a DH next year? What do the Padres have to use from their farm system for trades to get another starting pitcher?
Anthony Franco
4:10
There are still a few lower-cost first base/DH types they can bring in via free agency. Dom Smith, Trey Mancini, could take a shot on Nelson Cruz
4:11
As far as trades, I imagine they're not keen on dealing Merrill or Lesko but I wonder if they'd listen on Campusano for a pitcher with two years of control. Seems like if they were convinced he's their catcher of the future he'd have gotten more of a consistent MLB opportunity by now
Angels1961
4:12
Who will be closer for Angels next season?
Anthony Franco
4:12
Probably Carlos Estévez
David
4:12
What else will it take for the Angels to overtake enough of the AL West and at a minimum secure a wild card spot?
Anthony Franco
4:13
Division is pretty strong, especially with Texas making such a good push. On paper I don't think they're that far from Wild Card range right now though
4:14
Could use another back-end starter in the Wacha mold, maybe another middle innings type with some upside. Obviously a lot with the Angels is going to be contingent on the health of their stars in any year, but this is the best I've felt about their roster in quite some time. They've done a lot to address the lack of position player depth that hurt them the past few seasons
Scotikins
4:14
Since the Cubs signed Swanson will the Cards decide to sign or trade for a new shortstop? Will they keep DeJong?
Anthony Franco
4:15
It's Edman's job more so than DeJong's, though I expect the latter will be on the roster as a glove-first backup infielder
4:16
But no, I don't expect any outside additions at this point. There's probably no one better than Edman who's available in trade anyways, and they never seemed to consider middle infield a need in free agency

Given the only 2 throws over to first to hold a runner what is to deter a runner, after the two throws, to take a very large lead off assuming it is not so much as the pitcher can step off the rubber and walk toward the runner?
Anthony Franco
4:16
You can throw over a third time but if you fail, it's a balk
4:17
So the runner can't take a 45-foot lead. They can still pick you off. But runners can and will stretch it a little bit after a couple unsuccessful throws. That's the whole point of the rule. They want to make things easier for baserunners so more players attempt to steal
Your Name
4:17
What players do you think fans tend to overvalue in trades (major leaguers that is), undervalue?
Anthony Franco
4:18
I think the Blue Jays deals this offseason are a pretty good proxy for this
Teoscar's a guy who feels like he should have more trade value than he does. Middle-of-the-order bopper but limited defensive value, one year of control and a fairly expensive arb salary makes him less valuable than most fans might assume
4:19
Varsho's the opposite. Fine but not great hitter whose biggest appeals are 1) elite defense with the ability to play up-the-middle and 2) extended window of affordable arbitration control
4:20
Which is why Toronto's willing to give up an elite prospect for Varsho while getting back a quality reliever and an interesting but not top-tier pitching prospect for Hernández
Bones
4:21
As it stands right now, the Brewers are the (fill in the blank)………. best team in the NL. Might as well trade a couple of guys and retool.
Anthony Franco
4:21
I'd probably have them 7th in the NL but they're the second-best team in their division, which gives them a real chance to compete
4:22
They could certainly win the NL Central and if you get into the playoffs, you can make a run
O’s 23!
4:23
I wouldn’t expect it costing too much, but would Baltimore part with a young prospect or 2 and maybe try to acquire Eric Lauer from the Brewers? He isn’t at the same level as Burnes or Woodruff but might be a very solid addition to the rotation.
Anthony Franco
4:23
Yeah I could see this. Lauer or Houser feel like viable targets for Baltimore
Oakland
4:24
Who’s traded away next for oakland. Laureano?
Anthony Franco
4:25
Tough time to move Laureano, would be a real sell-low coming off the bad year and PED suspension. Don't know they move anyone else before Opening Day but Seth Brown or Sam Moll would probably have some appeal and could be expendable
Teddy from Tampa
4:25
Where will the Rays get their offense from this season? Or do they hope to win a lot of 1-0, 2-1 games?
Anthony Franco
4:26
Yeah they've been surprisingly quiet on this front. Thought they'd more aggressively target the lineup, particularly after Neander said it was a priority at the start of the offseason
