Anthony Franco
4:36
Hey everyone, hope you all had a great week!
Let's get going
Stanton
4:37
Who are the next few top prospects to get the call and when?
Anthony Franco
4:38
Feels like Adley's going to be up within the next couple weeks. I wonder how long the Royals can hold Vinnie Pasquantino down while he's mashing like this too
Dk
4:38
Who will the Mets get to fill their rotation void with numerous starters out? Wade Miley?
Anthony Franco
4:39
I think they'll roll with the current five of Carrasco, Bassitt, Walker, Peterson and Williams until Megill gets back. They'll stockpile the Cahill-type depth arms and reevaluate closer to the deadline based on deGrom's/Scherzer's health status
4:40
I'm sure they'll poke around on Montas, Mahle, etc. but it's very possible they don't actually wind up needing rotation help by July
Andrew
4:40
Fav thing to Grill over the summer months?
Anthony Franco
4:40
I don't grill myself, but a grilled chicken is probably my go-to if we're doing a cookout
Brian C
4:40
Do you see the Cubs trading or extending Willson Contreras? If traded, what should the Cubs look for in return for him?
Anthony Franco
4:41
I think he's getting traded, probably for a couple solid but not elite prospects
A few months of Kris Bryant brought back Alexander Canario and Caleb Killian from the Giants last summer. Something like that feels viable if Contreras is still mashing in July
Gern Blanston
4:42
How would you quantify if Lindor's contract ends up a success and do you think ir will be?
Anthony Franco
4:43
I don't know there's a binary Y/N barometer on whether it was worth it, just kind of depends on how well he plays. I would say what he's doing this year is fine, about what you'd reasonably expect if you were the Mets
House of Nolans
4:44
If Gorman puts up the numbers he did in AAA with less K's, what do you see STL doing with Sosa and Dejong?
Anthony Franco
4:45
Gorman's probably not going to put up the numbers he did with fewer K's in the majors, because he's facing so much better pitching. But if he's a viable everyday second baseman right out of the gate, DeJong and Sosa probably both become DFA candidates
4:46
The organization clearly loves DeJong's professionalism and I don't think they want to cut bait, but it'd be even harder for him to right the ship if he's not playing everyday or just toiling away in Memphis. Sosa's a fine utility player but probably not a regular, and he's out of options
Can carry him for now as depth but eventually you may prefer to use that active roster spot somewhere else
Joey BArt
4:46
Swing and miss is pretty bad right now, just growing pains or is he going to be a defense oriented catcher with limited offensive upside aside from his power longterm?
Anthony Franco
4:47
I think he's always going to strike out a bunch but it can't be this extreme. If he's punching out like 35% of the time, he can still be a really good regular catcher in the Mike Zunino mold
4:48
Pushing half your plate appearances ending with a strikeout? That's not going to work long-term
Jake M
4:48
Who are your top 5 mlb teams so far, ranked?
Anthony Franco
4:49
Just in terms of what they've done to this point, I'd probably rank them Yankees, Dodgers, Astros, Mets, Angels
If you wanted to fight for San Diego or Milwaukee at the back end you could
Matt Foley
4:49
How can the Red Sox survive with 3 guys hitting below .200, and a shaky bullpen?
Anthony Franco
4:50
I don't think they can. They're just going to need guys to start playing better or they're going to end up deadline sellers
4:51
I'm not sure what they're waiting for with Triston Casas. At what point have you seen enough with Bobby Dalbec? Probably should give Duran another shot in right field too, although I'm a little less optimistic about his chances of being an immediate upgrade over the Bradley/Arroyo pair
Joey JoJo Shabadoo
4:51
Oh no, did the Astros just extend their title window by paying $700k for Pena rather than $35MM for Correa?
Anthony Franco
4:52
It sure helps. It wasn't closing even if Pena weren't good right away, but he's been incredible
I thought it was a mistake for them to not more aggressively pursue Story. Sure seems like I was wrong
Mainz Athletics
4:53
What "under-the-radar" player's breakout has been the best so far this season for you?
Anthony Franco
4:54
I never know how to quantify "under-the-radar," but it's cool that Taylor Ward has been maybe the best player in the league. Tommy Edman, Daulton Varhso, Kyle Wright are all guys I like who are off to awesome starts
Gern Blanston
4:55
is it fair to wonder about the Met's championship hopes on an injury prone pitcher in deGrom and 37 year old Scherzer who ran out of gas last year and is hurt now?
Anthony Franco
4:55
Sure, it's fair to worry about any team's championship hopes because there are a lot of good teams out there and the MLB playoffs are pretty random
4:56
If Scherzer and deGrom aren't available come postseason time, obviously that deals a notable blow. But the Mets look good enough to withstand it for a couple months to hold onto the division, then (theoretically) get them both back for the most important time of the year
John
4:57
Could the Orioles go all in for Trea Turner this winter?
Anthony Franco
4:57
It makes sense but I'll believe they actually do it when I see it
4:58
Similar story with Correa again if he opts out. The payroll's wide open, getting a franchise player around whom to build the rest of the rebuild pushes you forward, but they haven't seemed to want anything to do with that kind of investment lately
Drew
4:58
The Soto trade speculation is entirely about the need to fill airtime and column inches in May, isn’t it?
Anthony Franco
4:59
I do not expect Soto to be traded this summer, nor do I think the Nats will seriously entertain offers
