Sorry for the late start ... I was busy making my trade deadline acquisition for the year: a house!
Quite a bit cheaper than the deals being worked out right now.
We'll let everyone gather up and get rolling shortly.
Andrew Miller

Am I packing for Washington yet ?
Jeffrey Todd
2:40
Probably depends how much value the Yankees place in Reynaldo Lopez, because I am not sure I see the Nats utilizing another core prospect piece to get him. Maybe Robles?
I'd say there's a chance of Miller to the Nats, but it's far from a likelihood at this point.

What's the plan for the Padres
Jeffrey Todd
2:41
Sell everything and then hope all the young talent they are accumulating turns out.
Josh
2:41
Cards sound like they will add a reliever. What names do you think they will go after? Thanks.
Jeffrey Todd
2:42
Hard to know since in theory that could mean any of about 50 players. We've seen Mozeliak target bounceback reliever types in recent years (Axford, for instance). But perhaps they'll feel a need to add a more impactful arm to have a real shot this year.

Will the Tigers be sellers or buyers?
Jeffrey Todd
2:42
6 games over .500 and still in the division race. At least a limited buyer, IMO.

Do you expect a flurry of trades coming right before the deadline?
Jeffrey Todd
2:43
Well, yeah. But last year it seemed like there'd be more action than there was. 2014 was insane. You never know!

Do you have any news on pending deals for Houston?
Jeffrey Todd
2:44
Nothing that isn't on the site. I see HOU as an opportunistic buyer -- could strike a big deal, but there aren't a lot of glaring needs that must be filled, so they may not do a lot.
Walt Wellington

Arodys Vizcaino / Jim Johnson to the Cardinals?
Jeffrey Todd
2:44
Viz is hurt and had been struggling, don't see him going right now.
Daniel

Chris Sale starts today. Will it be his last start for the South Siders?
Jeffrey Todd
2:45
Getting lots of Sale and Archer questions ...
Thing is, I believe both are available -- but only at a stupendous price. There is zero reason for either of their clubs to just take fair value; they'd need a haul.
Low likelihood but possible.
Taylor

So is Texas gonna make a splash or not? Seems theyve been tied to every SP available.
Jeffrey Todd
2:46
I think they have to add a starter. Or two. Maybe they take a risk on a guy like Rich Hill and then add a more dependable type to shore up the back of the rotation, too?
Matt Klentak

Should the Phillies trade VV with the market so high on pitching?
Jeffrey Todd
2:46
No I don't think the time is right.
Jordon
2:47
What is a realistic trade that the nationals could make for a closer without giving up turner, giolito, ross, lopez, or robles?
Jeffrey Todd
2:48
None of the clear sellers have really good, pure rental closers, so everyone will be asking for those guys. But I'd guess they could get something done centered on Fedde and Michael Taylor -- just probably not for the guys you'd really want (Miller, Davis).

2:48
Thoughts on the possibility of Wade Davis & Ian Kennedy (on his monster contract) being attached in a deal?
Jeffrey Todd
2:49
Sounds kinda odd, but I guess it could happen. There are teams that wouldn't hate the idea of this package turning both of those pitchers into more fair market salaried players, then giving a decent but not great return.
Loria

Maybe I should send Ozuna/Kolek/Ellington to Chicago for Sale?
Jeffrey Todd
2:49
Guessing that's not enough, though Ozuna is nice.
Mike Chernoff
2:49
Am I reeling in a big fish (Lucroy) or settling for a few minnows (Pearce, Logan)?
Jeffrey Todd
2:50
The latter two would be perfectly sensible adds and could have a real impact. They don't have to make a huge addition, but if you're ever going to, now's the time.

Is Kemp untradeable?
Jeffrey Todd
2:50
The Yankees traded for Vernon Wells.

Congrats on the new crib Jeff! Any front runners on the potential Daniel Hudson acquisition?
Jeffrey Todd
2:51
Much appreciated (same to other well-wishers). Not that I know of -- and it's impossible to guess, since he's a middle reliever who could really slot into any bullpen.

Jeff Passan suggested a Chris Sale for Andrew McCutchen swap would you be for it?
Jeffrey Todd
2:53
Haven't read up on that, but I don't know that I see it with McCutchen's struggles. They'd probably see Marte or Polanco as more equivalent players. Not sure how Cutch would be a centerpiece in that kind of deal - he has less control than Sale - but no doubt PIT would have to add a lot more, too.
