I don't think they are interested in trading him. I think they want to use him judiciously this year, possibly plug him into the rotation full-time for 2017 and then enjoy him for quite some time as an affordable, top-tier pitcher. (That's the upside scenario, of course.)

Curious why the M's are linked to Jay Bruce. IMHO Seattle needs a #2 /#3 starter or true lead off hitter. Bruce seems like a move Jack Z would make, all or nothing type of bat. What are your thoughts?

No, I don't think their performance matters too much. But the fact that agents are changing their valuations changes the team-side calculus.
