Who knows? They have handled Conforto somewhat oddly -- pushing him up quick, then not using him as you'd have expected, etc.

There was talk at the trade deadline of Greinke to the Dodgers, but the Dodgers wouldn't take on all of his contract. Are the Diamondbacks trying to get out from under the contract? Can any team realistically take on his contract? The only team I can think of besides the Dodgers is the Atlanta Braves, but after the fleecing from the Braves last year, I don't see that happening...

Nobody is taking on that contract, let alone giving up good prospects and taking it on. Makes no sense to have even suggested that, as some team source apparently did when it was reported.

I expect the new FO to have a more realistic valuation of Greinke, though I also think they'll at least try to build up his value some before making a deal.
(And I don't see the Braves as a very likely landing spot. Plenty of others that would be more sensible, IMO.)

You're always going to be balancing present/future MLB roster value (as well as uncertainty in performance, health, etc). The reason people are asking is that ATL keeps saying it wants to push for contention soon, etc.

I do think they'd move their best prospects in the right deal, but don't think they are going to be cashing in multiple guys for a single missing piece, obviously.
