A caller on Chicago radio suggested a Candelario for Derek Holland swap. I assume he was a Sox fan, but what other SP not named Archer or Quintana could the Cubs look at acquiring in July?
Jeffrey Todd
3:00
Holland has had a very nice start, but I don't expect he'll end up netting a huge return.

Should the American League Cleveland Baseball Franchise retake the mascot 'Spiders?'
Jeffrey Todd
3:00
Works for me. Always liked the sound of that moniker with the city name.
Altherr

He's been a shrewd pickup for my fantasy team so far. Is he for real or is he playing out of his mind right now?
Jeffrey Todd
3:01
Me too! There are definitely signs it is real, but he's also playing out of his mind. If you are a fantasy player, or Phillies GM Matt Klentak, you ride the hot streak and see where it leads.
Billy Eppler
3:02
Do you think there's any surplus value in Ricky Nolasco's or Yunel Escobar's contract? I need to restock this barren farm system.
Jeffrey Todd
3:02
Certainly not enough to restock the farm.
ATX Halo
3:02
Any help on way for Angels rotation?
Jeffrey Todd
3:02
Not really. Is what it is.
3:03
Unless you think they'll sign Doug Fister and that he'll be better than Lincecum was last year! There's always hope.
Boy Howdy
3:03
If Harvey messes up one more time this year to thr Mets throw up their arms and DFA him? His trade value must be close to zero right now
Jeffrey Todd
3:03
Still way too much upside to do that.
Stenzy
3:04
If you were running the Giants, what would your plan be for the rest of the season?
Jeffrey Todd
3:04
Keep plugging away and be prepared to make some slightly forward-looking moves if it goes south. Thing is, they don't exactly have a lot of short-term assets that look like trade chips. Cueto would probably be the most interesting.
3:05
But they should be willing to deal if it makes sense.
Scott the Mets fan
3:05
When Ces returns is the outfield of him,Conforto and Bruce enough to get them in the WC chase?
Jeffrey Todd
3:05
It doesnt look like enough to drive the team, if that's what you mean.
Alonso
3:06
How high is my value now that I am leading AL 1b in most stats? Do the A's trade me before trade deadline for a prospect?
Jeffrey Todd
3:06
Let's see how the rest of the year unfolds, but kudos to the A's for finally getting some play after previously fruitless investments in Alonso and Billy Butler.

I hear they are keeping me down in AAA for service time. Your thoughts? I mean, I can do as well as Gibby did prior to joining me here, no?!
Jeffrey Todd
3:08
Service time probably plays a role here, yeah. I mean ... on the one hand, you can say it's questionable since he's already been up and doesn't have anything more to show right now at Triple-A. On the other ... too bad, the guy didn't take advantage of his last shot so this is part of the price he pays, I suppose.

Nats,Cubs,Dodgers, Indians, which one is least likely to win its division?
Jeffrey Todd
3:09
Fun question ... given the hole, it could arguably be the Cubs. All still seem like pretty good bets, such as there are in baseball.

Alex Gordon ends up what team in August?
Jeffrey Todd
3:10
The Royals.
Just ... he's owed a lot still and isn't peforming.

How far do you think Jake Arrieta has fallen in the top ten free agent list?
Jeffrey Todd
3:11
Well ... I haven't thought about it specifically, but I could see him falling past Lucroy. I'm pretty concerned about the velo for his market.
3:12
Okay, couple more and I gotta run ...
John
3:13
Disturbed that Phillies extended Mackanin. Thoughts?
Jeffrey Todd
3:13
Don't see the harm.
Stuart phillips
3:13
Why didn't the Yankees, spend money on free agents, during winter!!!!!
Jeffrey Todd
3:13
Seem to be doing okay without it ... but the rotation does look thin.
KingLouieLouie76
3:13
Would the Dbacks trade Greinke at the trade deadline even if they're still contending?
Jeffrey Todd
3:14
That'd be tough to sell if they are really contending. Especially while looking for more taxpayer money.
Brian
3:14
You can say that the Yankees would be "giving up future value" for Quintana, but Quintana signed for the remainder of this year +3 more IS future value as well
Jeffrey Todd
3:14
That was my point.
KingLouieLouie76
3:14
Paul Goldschmidt still a Dback in August?
