No, because I think he'll be back before the deadline. So if he's back and able to play, it's just a question of the ongoing risk with the hammy, which a team will just price into its offer.
Also, Walker would be a pretty plausible August chip, though the Mets would surely rather try to get value before teams go after other players.

How much would a year and a half of Kershaw cost in prospects? (I know it's not happening, but Sale got traded).
Jeffrey Todd
3:16
It's even more theoretical than you realize, b/c Kershaw can opt out the season after he's traded, per his contract.
It's just not happening.
3:17
Also, great as Sale is, he's no Kershaw -- who like Trout is on a trajectory to be one of the very, very best players of all time.

Do some of the people asking questions read the post on MLB rumors? Seems as if they read the posts, they'd have their questions answered by now.
Jeffrey Todd
3:18
Some are probably confused. Others may have been extra confused this week b/c I screwed up the link initially. (Sorry!)

@LAAngelsPR
now
Today the #Angels requested unconditional release waivers on INF Danny Espinosa for the purpose of granting him his unconditional release.

Neshek or Ramos to the Dbacks??
Jeffrey Todd
3:20
Lots of good relievers out there. They should get one.

Should I be worried that if we dont get a starter we may lose a playoff spot
Jeffrey Todd
3:21
I mean ... they are still a favorite to get one. But I am holding with my position they should be willing to give up future value for a controllable starter. Only trouble is, I'd have probably argued Quintana was the most sensible target.
3:22
They could also be a nice spot for Cahill, who is throwing really well.
Actually I like them to take that kind of risk. Shouldn't require too, too much in prospects.

Does Hahn have any more tricks up his sleeve?  Swarzak, Melky and maybe Holland or Gonzalez have some value.
Jeffrey Todd
3:23
Swarzak will be a FA so should be dealt. Melky too, if only for salary relief. Other two are really not going to be in much demand.
Karl
3:23
I don't think he'll be traded, but would the price for Osuna be higher than Chapman/Miller?
Jeffrey Todd
3:23
Arguably should be. They'd probably hold out for that kind of return.
3:24
As with Felipe Rivero, maybe to a slightly lesser extent Raisel Iglesias only b/c I believe he has one less year of control than the other two.
Jake
3:24
You said rivero would be one of the top 5 most valuable relievers, what relievers would net more? I know the track record is short, but rivero is young, controllable for a long time, extremely cheap, and dominant. Who else can you check all those boxes for? I'm genuinely curious, not trying to be mean.....
Jeffrey Todd
3:24
See above.
Carlito
3:25
Do you think Kershaw will opt out and get even more $$$$$$$$
Jeffrey Todd
3:25
Or sign a mega extension first.

How much will Correa's injury impact the Astros in the meantime?
Jeffrey Todd
3:27
They are very well set up to handle it. Marwin Gonzalez has been amazing. Have options at short. Could use Gurriel at third. Etc, etc.
Maybe they win the ALWest by one or two less games?

You answer absurd question like Kershaw being traded, and ignore those with substance. I assume that you either like soap operas or just don't fully understand enough about minor league systems to respond?
Jeffrey Todd
3:28
I'm not ignoring any of substance. But I do stay away from opining on prospects, b/c their evaluations vary quite a bit by team and I just can't scout them all myself (and am not equipped to do so.)
3:29
Honestly, I scroll til I see something I feel I can answer quickly or that really merits a thoughtful response. There are tons of questions. The Kershaw one was easy to answer.
And it's a generally unappreciated point.

What about VV for the Brewers? What could PHI reasonably ask for?
Jeffrey Todd
3:30
I feel like they'll be looking more for someone that's a bit more reliable than rolling the dice on a guy with those questions (health, really succeeding as a starter).
Alex

Do you see anyone trading for Seth smith, Wellington Castillo, or hyun soo Kim?
Jeffrey Todd
3:31
Yes, maybe, no
Adrian

Do the Giants make any moves prior to the deadline? Nunez? Shark? Belt?
Jeffrey Todd
3:31
Yes, maybe, no

What other reasons would the #Angels have requested unconditional release waivers on INF Danny Espinosa other than for the purpose of granting him his unconditional release?
Jeffrey Todd
3:32
Just a formal statement of his being released.
Technically, he could be claimed.
