Not sure what the return might be, but yes, KC looks like a great place for Cozart. Just a question whether they think it'd be unwise to do that to the clubhouse, or something ... he's clearly a far superior option to Escobar.

What kind of contract do you see Moustakas pulling in next year? He's having a great season but also has a history of so-so numbers as well as injury.
Jeffrey Todd
2:35
He is young and the power breakout is interesting. But I do think teams will be wary of his inability to consistently get on base. If the market shakes out well he could push for five years ... his best-case scenario might be something like the Pablo Sandoval contract?

Could Lucas Duda get traded again?  Maybe intra-div, to the Yanks or Sox
Jeffrey Todd
2:36
I think that's possible, yes, if the Rays really fall back. Charlie included him on the list of players that could conceivably be allowed to depart through a waiver claim, and I could see that or a marginal return.
2:37
Right now, though, TB is still plenty close to a WC spot.

Back end starter?? Really?? Do you think that's all the Braves expected when they dealt Simmons to land me?
Jeffrey Todd
2:38
No, they hoped he'd develop into more. But since he arrived, he hasn't made strides. So, I guess your level of disappointment depends upon what time frame you were looking at to set expectations, and what  those expectations were. He was always seen as a high-variability guy for someone that had already reached the upper minors.

Granderson seems a perfect fit for Washington.
Jeffrey Todd
2:39
Only if they think they will be in need of an OF come October. If they really believe Harper and Werth (and Goodwin) will be back, he doesn't fit.
Rylan
2:39
Should Twins find another starter? Or should they get something for Santana?
Jeffrey Todd
2:39
Most likely, neither.
Stanton
2:40
Why did the Marlins putme thru waivers?  It seems like a waste of time.  It isn't like he is a cancer whose contract they want to dump like Manny Ramirez with the Red Sox.  The contract and cost of prospects make it unfeasible to deal.
Jeffrey Todd
2:40
Why did the Nats put Harper through waivers? (And why did he clear?) Some teams put their whole rosters out there, for a variety of reasons, and it rarely means much in and of itself.
2:41
But it'd have been foolish not to in the case of Stanton. What if some amazing offer was out there waiting and they had simply neglected to take that procedural step? Have to just open the possibility.

What kind of prospect return would it take for the Angels to acquire Dee Gordon?
Jeffrey Todd
2:42
If they are willing to take his salary, it shouldn't take much but a token return. Don't see surplus value in that deal; it's arguable he's not quite worth the contract.
Indians fan
2:43
Can the Indians breathe easier now with the lead they have? Or can the Royals/Twins overtake them?
Jeffrey Todd
2:43
Anything can happen, but CLE is a rather clear favorite at this point.
Rylan
2:44
Can Twins expect a return to form from Perkins?
Jeffrey Todd
2:44
Expect? No. Hope? Sure. They'll throw him in there, manage the workload, and hope for the best. He seems like a great guy, so I'm rooting for him.
Mets
2:44
What would it take to trade for Realmuto this offseason? Or should we sign Lucroy/Castillo?
Jeffrey Todd
2:45
Miami will rightly put a big price on Realmuto. Young, productive, cheap, controllable catchers just are so rarely available. If he's put on the market, there'll be competition.
2:46
Lester "left lat tightness." Not so good.
Obviously too soon to leap to any conclusions there, but that seems like a reasonably worrying little nugget of injury news.

Do you typically transition to darker beers in the fall?
Jeffrey Todd
2:47
That's a deeply personal question; I'm offended that you asked.
Ha.
2:48
I tend to shift to heavier beers as it gets colder, but never really have enjoyed brown ales and the like.

Is Michael A Taylor a bust?
Jeffrey Todd
2:49
Well, he's finally been consistently productive this year, so it's a bit of a curious time to ask. A toolsy guy like that with many questions ... hard to call him a bust if he proves to be even a quality 4th OF or second-division regular type.
Angels fan
2:49
Will the Angels make any moves?
Jeffrey Todd
2:50
I'll guess they just hope to improve from within, mostly, with the starters trickling back. But at this point, their position in the standings is strong enough that they should be willing to at least look for some value to make some improvements. Still hard to see any massive change to the roster, though.

Richards could be back in September, I should have kept David Hernandez.
Jeffrey Todd
2:51
And yeah, that.

2:51
Could Jose Bautista be traded this month?
Jeffrey Todd
2:52
Not really seeing it, honestly. He's owed so much, is a fan favorite, isn't playing well.
billy beane
2:52
how far off are the Oakland a's from making the playoffs?
Jeffrey Todd
2:53
As currently constituted, they are in somewhat the same position as the Padres at the MLB level. Throwing a bunch of young guys they like into the fire and seeing how it all works out. If you think enough of those players are truly quality regulars, maybe it comes quickly. Odds are, some will struggle, and there'll be some patience in plugging in pieces before they go trying to add mid-level free agent types to surround a core.

Raise your hand if saw Chris Taylor as a top 20 OPS guy before the season started? I was kinda shocked to see that the other day.....
