That's a big contract to possibly take on ... still hard to deal for a guy with an opt-out, though in his case it's not a bad bargain.
3:19
But it's not wildly implausible, I suppose, if the Tigers will basically take what they can get for him. Haven't heard any real chatter on a market for him.

Don't leave.  The chat is still going on!

Not if I say it isn't!
But than you for asking, I'll take a few more.

Whose further along in their rebuild, Reds, Phills or Braves

Let's reframe that slightly into a poll ...
Which group of young MLB/prospect talent would you rather have?

Reds (5.3% | 7 votes)

Braves (82% | 109 votes)

Phillies (12.8% | 17 votes)

Total Votes: 133

What is pirates outfield. 2018

I think there's a pretty good chance it is the same as it was to open this season. Have to let Polanco and Marte keep playing given their past records and contracts.  And it's at least plausible now that Cutch won't draw big enough offers -- with just one season left -- to make it worth trading him.

Which team makes the playoffs first:  Padres, As, Braves, Phillies, or Reds
Jeffrey Todd

Slightly different way of looking at it here ... if forced to place a bet, I'd pick the Phillies, just because they have the capacity to spend their way into contention around the youth.

I've seen Hoskins play many games in the minors and to me I think he is as can't miss as you can get. What are your expectations for him? I can see him hitting .265 / .355 / .530 next year.

I have no idea, but I can't remember seeing such high expectations from projection systems for another player. (This is coming from me, not Dave Cameron or something, so take that with a huge grain of salt.)
He was projecting at like a 120 wRC+ before his promotion.
So ... who knows but should be fun to watch.

What contract is Lucroy getting this winter? What teams other than rockies would be interested?
Jeffrey Todd
3:26
Supposing he finishes strong, and in a way that doesn't just look like Coors fortune, and that teams believe his framing will be at least average, etc, etc ....
3:27
I think he'll be in line for three or four years. But I don't know that he'll get near that Russell Martin range, as once seemed plausible.

Is there anyway 2018 can be worse then this year ?
Jeffrey Todd
3:28
Is this a general question or are you asking about the Giants?
Um, it's unlikely, I'd say, since they seem intent upon improving the roster where possible. Ought to see some positive regression in places, hopefully Bumgarner will be healthy, etc.

No, I was chatting with you!
And I mean that in the past tense ... going to hang up here.
Thanks as always! We'll do it again next week, same time.
