Folks, this is rare ... I made it to the end of the queue early. So, I will actually see your questions as they ask them. Use this power wisely!
Joe
2:53
Is Rhys Hoskin for real?
Jeffrey Todd
2:53
He has given every indication he is. Really nice development for Phils.
Gary
2:53
I wasn't following baseball as closely then, but why was Profar such a great prospect? Did he have more power before the shoulder injury? Was he supposed to be like a 70 hit/60 power SS?
Jeffrey Todd
2:54
More like a really high-quality all-around player. Think Francisco Lindor before he truly broke out. Type of talent that you wouldn't be surprised if he did things you didn't exactly expect, perhaps?
AL

Nobody really wants this wild card spot, eh?
Jeffrey Todd
2:54
It's really not a very inspiring "race," is it?

Don't you think that if Bridich  believed this was the year, he would've done a lot more than just  A relief pitcher and catcher?
Jeffrey Todd
2:56
Key to bear in mind they had already boosted payroll. And I thought those were pretty significant additions, though a starter still would've made lots of sense. Not sure they had to go wild even if they did really see the merit in pushing for 2017.
2:57
Rox also reasonably see a window that extends for a bit, so there's no reason to go crazy right now. As someone who called for them to push, I thought they largely did it.

Hey Jeffrey, are you single?
Jeffrey Todd
2:57
I get this question SO much, I guess I should answer it.
2:58
I am happily married with 2 kids, so sorry to disappoint you and so many others.
@NYPost_Mets
now
Mets say Flores is done for the season with a broken nose.
let's see if they can come up with yet stranger ways of injuring people the rest of the season
Altuve
2:59
What does an extension for Altuve look like?
Jeffrey Todd
3:02
I mean, he's one of the best players in baseball and has been for some time. You do have to account for the two remaining years of control, of course, which take him through til he turns 29. If we are talking true market value, I think he's easily a $200MM+ player in free agency right now, suggesting something on the order of $30MM for FA years. So maybe it's in the $180 to $220 range for six or seven additional seasons beyond what's already on his deal? But I'm also not sure Houston would even go into that range, esp with so much time still left before he's a FA, so it's really all just totally open for negotiation. We have seen other stars signing second extensions (Longo, Braun) go for less
Travis

Should I shave my beard?
Jeffrey Todd

Never
Blue jay
3:03
Who would be a good option for the blue jays to pursue to fix their middle infield backup situation.  Goins and Barney can't be the best they can get can it?
Jeffrey Todd
3:03
Doesn't it have to be about more than getting a backup? Tulo has been poor and hurt. Travis has been better (but poor this year) and hurt.
Think they need to be looking for guys that could be starters, really. The Profar match is pretty interesting, potentially.

Angels to keep phillips?
Jeffrey Todd
3:04
They will need a veteran second baseman, but I imagine they'll be looking at others as well and will make a run at other guys if they have them ranked higher.
3:05
Could be a player for Nunez. Lowrie via trade. Kinsler as well.
Lots of possibilities out there.

Ai Garcia - extend or trade while value high?
Jeffrey Todd
3:05
I think hold, unless someone knocks your socks off with an offer. If he's still playing well, re-assess mid-season or next fall.
Braves
3:06
Moustakis our starting 3rd baseman next year for 5/80?
Jeffrey Todd
3:07
He is a conceivable target, esp since he's pretty young. Still not sure I have a sense how they are leaning, though I am not really in the camp that believes the Braves feel certain they have a future starting infield in place (Camargo-Swanson-Albies-Freeman, or something).
Gabe
3:07
Single? He's a homerun!
Jeffrey Todd
3:07
Hey-oh!

Steve Adams said you were put on revocable waivers and claimed by Fangraphs ... MLBTR chose to pull you back .. #1) were you aware of this ... #2) are you glad to still be where you are?
Jeffrey Todd
3:08
I plead baseball's version of the 5th, also known as "the Huntington."
3:09
Namely: β€œThe waiver process β€” if enacted β€” is supposed to be a confidential process until it reaches conclusion. If there is something to report at that time β€” it will be reported."

Santana or Bruce? At the end of the year which free agent will the Indians feel they need to re-sign?
Jeffrey Todd
3:09
Latter makes more sense from where I sit, since he can play the OF.

When does the baseball contract bubble burst? $31MM, $32MM, $33M can't be substainable right?
Jeffrey Todd
3:10
I'd expect it to track the economy, generally, and the ability of MLB to generate revenue (via TV, gate, and advanced media) more particularly.

How exactly does Profar "make sense on paper" for ANY rebuilding team? You figure they would want someone who CAN'T be a free agent soon.
