likelihood cespedes or lowrie is traded
Mark P
8:45
Lowrie is a maybe, if the Mets eat some money.  Don't forget, Lowrie was a productive player as recently as 2018, so I can imagine teams having some interest.

Cespedes, I'd have to say his trade value is still next to nil, even with the reduced salary.  He's barely played in three seasons.  Mets might be able to move him attached to Dominic Smith or someone, but as anything other than a salary dump, I can't see teams having interest in Yoenis

Marsh, Adams and Sandoval for Clevinger? Who says no?
Mark P
8:46
The Tribe says no, Angels GM Billy Eppler.  You'd have to give up a lot more than that for Clevinger

Are Braves now clear frontrunner for Donaldson?
Mark P
8:48
The Twins are reportedly not keen on their chances, and the Nationals already seem to be moving on, as evidenced by their signings of Castro and Cabrera.  The Rangers were seemingly out of the mix a few weeks ago.

So this might leave the Braves as the favorites, though I do see it hard to believe they'd match his $110MM asking price: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/01/josh-donaldson-reportedly-sets-...
8:49
If the Braves came at least close enough to $110MM, that could be enough to satisfy Donaldson, since it seemed like he wanted to stay in Atlanta all things considered

Will the royals look to trade solar at any point
Mark P
8:50
I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't be open to it, given their rebuilding nature.  But the Royals tend to approach matters a bit differently than other teams, and I'd guess they see Soler as a building block to their next winner, which they feel could be sooner rather than later

Best picture of the year?
Mark P
8:51
There's still a lot of good stuff I haven't yet seen, but for now, Parasite was probably my personal Best Picture of 2019
Blue Jays
8:51
when do you think the next time we make the playoffs (wild card included) will be. Is 2020 realistic?
Mark P
8:52
A ton would have to go right for the Jays in 2020.  I think there are probably eight or nine AL teams better than them on paper

Dodgers - Mookie or Lindor or continue w the charade? What r they doing?
Mark P
8:54
They're seemingly in talks on a lot of notable players, but it takes two to tango.  If other teams are being unreasonable in their asks, I can't blame the Dodgers for not budging
Kevin R

What kind of future do you see for King Felix?
Mark P
8:55
Minor league contract this winter, and maybe for the next few years unless he has a big turn-around
The Future

Do you think NL teams are counting on a DH as they negotiate contracts?
Mark P
8:56
Unless teams know something we don't know, it would seem pretty foolish to be counting on a major rule change two years before it could happen

Castellenos or Ozuna? Who’d you rather have if you’re an NL team?
Mark P

Castellanos or Ozuna, if you're an NL team

Ozuna (55.5% | 1,369 votes)

Castellanos (44.5% | 1,097 votes)

Bryant, Arenado, Lindor, Betts. Rank their likeliness to be moved.
Mark P
8:57
1. Bryant
2. Lindor
3. Betts
4. Arenado
8:58
For Arenado, there might be too many obstacles (no-trade, opt-out, salary, etc.) for the Rockies to trade him soon, though as a deadline trade chip, maybe

Cubs been reported on trying to trade Kris Bryant. But the Cubs got a lot of other pieces they could trade to improve the team. Do you see the Cubs dealing anyone before spring training?
Mark P
8:59
I do, though Bryant's grievance ruling seems to be holding everything up.  This could be a hint that Bryant is the one the Cubs are most willing to deal, and don't want to move anyone else until they've gotten things figured out with KB.

Would the Reds have to include Senzel in a trade for Lindor?
Mark P
9:00
I'd guess he would be Cleveland's top ask, yes.  If I'm the Tribe, I'm asking for any team's top prospect in a Lindor deal

Do you feel Alex Wood would be a good addition to PHILLIES starting staff?  Is he better than what they already have?
Mark P
9:02
His injuries are an obvious red flag, but I do think he has enough upside to be a big improvement for Philly's rotation.

Castellanos in Toronto, does it make sense ?
Mark P
9:03
I'm leaning towards no, but I can see some logic since the Jays want to be competitive sooner rather than later.  an outfield of Gurriel LF/Grichuk CF/Castellanos RF isn't going to challenge for any gold gloves, however, and then the Jays have a lot of spare outfielders as trade bait

Any chance of a madrigal extension such as Robert got?
Mark P
9:06
It wouldn't be as pricey as the Robert and Eloy extensions, since those two were consensus top-five prospects in baseball and Madrigal is "only" top 35-40 or so.  But Chicago is definitely high on Madrigal and if they think he's done enough at Triple-A, he could also be locked up.
Luis Robert
9:06
Now that he’s signed his extension will we see him on opening day 2020?
Mark P
9:06
Barring injury, I can't imagine he isn't in Chicago's opening day lineup

Is it just me or do the Mets look substantially better than they did a year ago?  Yeah, the Cano/Diaz trade was a total mess, but the Marisnick trade might fix the OF defense, Alonso and McNeil are now proven commodities and the entire pitching staff looks like that of a competitive MLB team.
Mark P
9:08
You're not wrong, the Mets look like playoff contenders on paper.  BUT, there are certainly some question marks with injury-prone players, and they're now counting on some players without long track records of success

What would the Twins need to offer to grab Kris Bryant from the Cubs (assuming he has two years of control after losing his grievance)?
