Looks like the Jays won the Travis for Gose trade
AvatarJason Martinez
5:17
Yep. Gose has been a disappointment. He's out of options and I'm guessing he'll pass through waivers and the Tigers will release him. He'll catch on somewhere else on a Minor League deal.

What do you think of the Duffy Extension? What other further moves should KC make to try and have another shot at October baseball?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:20
I think it's a great move. He's always had upside so last year shouldn't have been a huge surprise. Finally put it all together. Royals get him at a bargain rate because he doesn't have a long track record of dominating as he did last season.
5:22
I don't know if they have enough pitching to make it to the post-season and they don't have the minor league talent to make a trade. They need their core hitters to stay healthy and they need Ventura to take a step forward. And maybe one young pitcher to step up (Strahm, Zimmer). Or maybe Mike Minor can return to his pre-injury form. He was pretty good a few years back.

What about Kolten Wong to the Dodgers? In return, Mo could ask for one top 15 prospect and another top 30?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:24
I think Wong would cost more than Dozier, Kinsler or Forsythe. A lot of upside and 5 years of control. So more like one of their top 2 prospects (Alvarez or Bellinger) and more.

Does Wieters make sense for the Nationals or does Lobaton and Norris give you enough production?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:27
I think they're good enough with Norris and Lobaton. Biggest roster concern would be late-inning reliever to help Kelley, Treinen, Solis and a backup infielder. I think those areas will be addressed and Wieters is not a priority. If his price falls enough, I wouldn't count them out. Unlikely, though.

I will be pitching in college next year as a side arm closer. When will I be in the HOF?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:32
Tell your coach not to allow the starters to throw 150+ pitches and get you in the game early enough to pitch 2-3 innings to close out games. Apparently, these "1-inning" guys in the majors don't have a lot of value.

Will Huntington eventually cave on trading Meadows as part of a package for Q?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:33
I doubt it. He has a long track record of not caving in when it comes to his best prospects. I think it would be a big deal if he traded Glasnow.

Brett Anderson to the Cubs as a fallback option after losing out on Ross? They want pitching depth and he has some upside
AvatarJason Martinez
5:35
Sure. He's pretty good when healthy. Almost never healthy but you never know. Shouldn't cost much.
Matt
5:35
Which Lefty do you think the Jays will end up with?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:35
I'll go with Jerry Blevins.
Rick
5:37
Martes, Tucker, and Musgrove vs Bell, Glasnow, and Diaz. What deal do you take for Quintana?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:37
Both are strong offers. Good mix of upside and close-to-MLB ready talent. Maybe a 4th player would be needed to settle things.
Rip Ripulski
5:39
Didn't I have the coolest name and the biggest guns to ever show up in EVERY bb card pack!!! Jason....thank you for all you do brother...."singing go Cubs go"
AvatarJason Martinez
5:39
So many cool baseball names but "Rip Repulski" is up there. You're welcome.

What are the odds the Tigers make the playoffs this year?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:42
If the 2016 version of Verlander and the pre-2016 version of Jordan Zimmermann show up, they have a good shot. If not, I envision a losing season and the team beginning to move towards a rebuild.

5:44
Does Orlando arcia take a huge step forward this year ??
AvatarJason Martinez
5:44
I think he'll have an up-and-down season, but will show plenty of signs of why he was their No. 1 prospect. Breakouts usually come in 2nd or 3rd full MLB season after everyone forgets how good of a prospect they once were.
Greg Holland
5:47
Am I a good fit for the Rangers now that Diekman is injured
AvatarJason Martinez
5:47
Holland's a "good fit" for any team, but Rangers probably need him much less than other teams. They are stacked with good right-handed relievers (Dyson, Bush, Jeffress, Barnette, Kela, Scheppers).

Next free agent reliever off the board? Why has Travis Wood not gotten more love.
AvatarJason Martinez
5:50
Sounds like Holland will sign soon. Neftali Feliz to Brewers is also supposed to happen very soon. Not sure if it's asking price with Travis wood or finding a team that will allow him to start. Even if it's just about finding a team that wants to use him as a lefty reliever, there are still 2 other very good ones available (Boone Logan, Jerry Blevins). So it's not just him.

Holland, Wieters, and Stephen Drew is how I finish my roster out. Did I do enough?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:53
Yes, you're ready to defend your NL East title. Just need to keep that Strasburg guy healthy.
AJ Preller
5:55
Who's my starting SS opening day?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:55
Jered Weaver will be the Opening Day starter and Stephen Drew will be the starting SS. Padres finally making up for passing on those guys in the 2004 draft.
5:56
Thanks for chatting everyone! Same time and place next Wednesday. Enjoy the rest of your evening.
