He does. 42 doubles and .800 OPS in '16. He can still hit. Not sure there will be many teams looking to trade for a hitter right now, though, with so many free agent options. Especially if the prices on free agent hitters starts to drop. White Sox would also likely have to eat some of Melky's $15MM salary.

Nick Franklin will finally live up to the hype...

.771 OPS in 191 plate appearances and played 5 different positions in '16. That's something. Remains to be seen if he can maintain that with 500-600 plate appearances. If the Rays don't add another hitter, there's a good chance that he'll get the opportunity.

Romo to the Yankees?

I don't think they have as much of a need for him as other teams. They already have Betances, Warren, Clippard to set up for Chapman. And possibly Severino if he doesn't start.

Does Brett Lawrie have any trade value beyond a lower-level prospect?

Not much of a market for 3B/2B. Sox will hope that he puts up big numbers and more teams are in need of a 3B in July. They won't get a lot for him since he's set to become a FA after the season.

With The Braves having signed/traded for Dickey, Colon and Garcia, in 2018 when those 3 contracts are up, who does the team go after for SP, IF they don't feel comfortable with any of their youngsters?? Thanks

A lot depends on how their young guys develop in 2017. But I can see them being aggressive on the free agent market either way and going after guys like Arrieta and Darvish.

Think the Red Sox do anything else offensively to help replace Papi?

Maybe a Plan B at 3B in case Panda doesn't bounce back. Trevor Plouffe or Luis Valbuena would be nice additions.

How is the Angels' rotation looking health wise?
AvatarJason Martinez

They have 5 capable starters in their projected rotation and all are expected to be on their Opening Day roster. Big health concerns with their ace, Garrett Richards, and not much depth. I'd say it's an area of concern.

Why do you have matt strahm as the KC 5 starter over young/minor?
AvatarJason Martinez

I initially had him in a setup role but I read a story that stated that the Royals had other plans. I don't have the link to the story but it sounds like they plan on giving him every chance to win a rotation spot. I think they know that he can be a great reliever, but want to find out if he can start. Not sure how long the leash will be.

Jose Abreu stay with White Sox thru 2017?

I think so. Not many good 1B on the FA market next season so maybe that's the best time to shop him.
