Lots of questions about Red Sox adding a bat. I'm assuming this is in response to Mitch Moreland's .479 OPS since mid-June. Maybe they try to upgrade with Yonder Alonso or Lucas Duda.

I think late-inning bullpen is their top priority and maybe only glaring need. Brad Hand or Justin Wilson make a lot of sense.

He's heating up so I think he has some time to make that case. Probably not, though. Strikes out too much. Probably best to go with Kipnis, Lindor, Brantley ahead of EE when everyone is healthy.

Not to open the season, but early May or June if they continue to dominate once they get to AAA.

If Hand IS dealt, who's next in line as closer?  Maton?  Yates?  Capps?

Those are the choices with Jose Torres also in the mix if they go with a "committee". Ideally, Capps gets in a groove in AAA and he can take the job soon after returning to the majors. I think Maton can handle the job now but there's also some benefit in letting Yates close (his numbers are terrific, by the way) so his trade value can peak before the offseason.

Sonny Gray & Ryan Dull for Kyle Gibson (change of scenery), Nick Gordon & Fernando Romero.  Who says no?

I think the A's would say no, but not after seriously contemplating it. It's close, I would think. Gordon/Romero are both Top 100 guys, according to many experts. Probably need to add another prospect.

Would LA part with Verdugo in a package for Britton?

My guess is that they only trade Verdugo or Buehler for an impact starter who is under control for a few years. Two DL stints for Britton make him too risky, although I can see the Dodgers giving up some good talent (maybe Calhoun) for him.
