I think their projected starting five (Chen, Volquez, Conley, Straily, Koehler) is decent. Not nearly enough depth to compete for 162 games. Depth is Locke, Nicolino, Urena. Not a lot of help on the way.

Lots of buzz about Haniger. Sounds like it's his job to lose. I think it's Haniger in RF, Martin in CF and Dyson/Heredia in LF.

If Sean Doolittle is healthy and not traded, I think he gets the job back by season's end. But I wouldn't rule out Dull from getting the job.

They're hoping that Chacin, Weaver, Cahill and Richard can give them some innings and generate some trade interest. They'll also need to figure out if guys like Friedrich, Clemens, Cozart and Jenkins are part of the team's future. They're going to lose a lot and that's OK. Hoping to get No. 1 draft pick in '18.

The Rays essentially have 2 closers, makes total sense to deal with Colome or Boxberger to the Nats. Any talks there?

Boxberger wasn't very good last season when healthy. 19 BBs in 22 IP!!! The Rays will be open to trading both at the deadline if he bounces back. I think their team is good enough now that trading Colome isn't really an option unless they're blown away with an offer.

How many games (if any) are you projecting Schwarber will get at Catcher this season? Also, please tell me Montero is gone soon..

I don't see Schwarber catching more than a few games unless an injury forces the Cubs' hand. Having a veteran catcher is important for a World Series contender so I don't think Montero is going anywhere. Whether he likes it or not, he's valuable as their 2nd catcher.

I don't see it. He's only 21. Struggled badly as a rookie. I think Whit Merrifield and Cheslor Cuthbert can hold the job down for at least 2-3 months.

I think Holland needs to prove that he's back to his dominant self during the regular season. So I think you'll at least open the season as the closer.

Like they say, you can't predict baseball. Lots of players who are usually really good will be really bad in 2017 and lots of players who no one is talking about right now will be guys we're talking about a year from now.

No, not early. I think they'd just give Chooch a bigger share of the starts. I also think they have enough firepower in that lineup that a guy like Tuffy Gosewisch isn't a bad option to share time with Ruiz, if necessary.
