Kyle Schwarber benched 2 of last 3 games, did he play himself into a platoon situation
AvatarJason Martinez
5:17
Yep. They were committed to letting him prove that he should play against LHP. But he's 5-for-33 against them.

What's wrong with Quitana? Did Chicago mess up not capitalizing on his trade market this past winter? Great contract but the further we get into it the less it matters, especially with games like today.
AvatarJason Martinez
5:19
He's been very good in 7 of his 10 starts. I don't think one awful start hurts his value much. Still has a great track record. Team-friendly contract. If he starts getting lit up every other game, that will be a problem.
Josh Meyer

Twins need to add another solid SP to stay in contention. Any chance of pulling off a blockbuster for Archer or Cole?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:21
I don't think they have the trade chips.
Brendan
5:21
Do you think the Nationals get a replacement for Michael Taylor in CF? If so, who?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:23
Taylor has an .891 OPS with 2 HR, 5 2B, 2 3B in his last 22 games. A lot of Ks but that's still a lot of production. Don't think they're concerned about CF right now.

which young pitcher will come up in the next 3 weeks and make a big difference for his club ? reynaldo ,faria, de leon /lucas sims ,so many others to write, any1 to pickup ? lol
AvatarJason Martinez
5:24
I think Reynaldo and Faria have a good shot. Both deserving. Faria has separated himself in a talented AAA rotation. I think the opportunity could present itself with their respective teams within a month.

If the M's trade Jarrod Dyson for bullpen help, who is the best match and is there really good value in making that deal?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:25
Can't see that happening. Teams willing to trade a relief pitcher right now aren't interested in a free agent-to-be like Dyson.

When will the world experience my greatness? Mid-June? August? Start of 2018?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:26
Bummer that Tommy Joseph started hitting. Probably 2018 now. Maybe late September.

5:29
Were you surprised by how little the Braves gave up in the Matt Adams trade?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:29
I am. I didn't even have Yepez in my database.
Blake Street
5:32
Is Tapia a long term piece for the Rockies or is he trade bait?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:32
I think he's a trade chip prior to 7/31. If they hold onto him, I think he's there for good with CarGo becoming an FA.
Jerry Dipoto
5:32
Why didn't I claim Pena and keep Gosewich
AvatarJason Martinez
5:32
Gosewisch has options and he's a good guy to have in Triple-A to work with their young pitchers.
CB
5:33
Raisel Iglesias to Nationals for Robles. Who would hang up first? Obviously there'd be other pieces involved.
AvatarJason Martinez
5:33
I don't think Robles for any relief pitcher is happening.

5:35
Ervin Santana a legit Cy candidate at this point?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:35
Most definitely. Sale would win, but Santana would be right behind him.

Are the Brewers for real this season? After almost 2 months, I think it can safely be said their offense isn't a fluke, but rather a real young juggernaut that may only get more potent.
AvatarJason Martinez
5:37
I think so. Thames and Shaw are better than expected. Good bullpen. I really like Knebel-Barnes-Peralta-Torres. Matt Garza! Could depend on how ready some of their young starting pitchers are, especially Hader and Woodruff.

Padres starting are looking awful.. should we be excited about Lamet tomorrow?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:38
As expected. All part of the plan. I really want that No. 1 pick next season. Shouldn't get too excited about Lamet, but he is the one 2017 rookie that figures to be with the team when they expect to compete in 2-3 years.
Tanner

Speaking of Ronald Acuna, he just belted another HR in AA Mississippi for the Bravos!
AvatarJason Martinez
5:39
19-year-old in AA! Stock is rising by the minute.
Padres apologist

What should I expect for Lamet tomorrow night? Who's next to come up with Cosart hurt again.
AvatarJason Martinez
5:41
I think Kyle Lloyd has put himself in position to be next in line. He's in AA but hard to ignore 12-K game yesterday and no-hitter a few starts ago.

FYI i just skimmed through the rotation depth tracker, good stuff! and thanks for filling in the nfl depth charts post draft!
AvatarJason Martinez
5:42
Thanks! I'll be adding "next in line" starters in the near future, too. Should be a nice resource.
5:43
Good chat, everyone. Same place and time next week.
