It makes sense to set a price, listen to offers and only make the deal if it makes the team better in 2019 and beyond.

what would your ideal padres off season look like

Haven't thought too much about it yet. How about this ... Re-sign Chacin to 2-year deal. Bring back Tyson Ross on incentive-laden deal. Bring back Brandon Morrow to be the closer. Trade for Jurickson Profar. Trade Brad Hand for a Top 100 prospect. Sign Logan Morrison or Lucas Duda to one-yer deal and move Wil Myers to RF. Trade Hunter Renfroe, as long as his value hasn't dipped after up-and-down rookie season.

Am I headed to the Braves as GM?
AvatarJason Martinez

Don't think Dayton would leave for another GM job. I'd think it would have to be a promotion into a President of Baseball Operations type position where he'd oversee a GM. Not sure the Braves would give him that.

Can a soft-tossing pitcher thrive nowadays?

Sure. See Kyle Hendricks, Marco Estrada, Zach Davies, Jason Vargas. All throw in the 80's. Just need to have above-average command and plus secondary pitches. Not as much room for error, but they're good at keeping hitters off balance.

I typically agree with you, but without looking at the numbers I find it tough that Upton and JD are exact comparables...hasn't JD been signifigantly better then Justin the last 3 years? I thought there was talk of contracts closer to 150mm

More in perception rather stats over the last few years. Similar production and age, but Upton has a much longer track record. He's been a legit middle-of-the-order threat for 10 years. JDM has been doing it since '14. If he surpassed Upton, like I think he might have, it's very impressive. Hard to read the FA market these days so I don't think we know if $150MM is attainable for a 30-year-old corner OF.

What are the chances the Marlins trade Yelich this offseason?

Decent chance. Listening to Derek Jeter, I wouldn't be surprised if they tear it completely down and start over from scratch again. And I'm the guy that's been saying that it's highly unlikely that they trade Stanton b/c of $ involved and the prospects it would take to acquire him.

What uniform is Giancarlo Stanton wearing next April?

I seriously have not given this any thought. Gonna do a quick roster browse and give you my 1st guess ...

A few possibilities come to mind, but I'll go with the Rockies since that would be so much fun, especially if you like 500-foot HRs. They also have a deep farm system and almost no financial commitments after '18.

Thanks for chatting everyone. See you back here next Wednesday. Enjoy the Rockies-Dbacks game!
