Whoa, sorry, I forgot to fire this up earlier ... I'm going to blame the fact that I've had to drive back and forth 3x (twice in a blizzard) to Denver International Airport over the last 2 days to help my wife and kids get out of town.
Though she had it much worse -- 4 hours sitting on the runway and about 12 more before and after waiting around in the airport yesterday! Oof.
3:54
Anyway, start asking and I'll start answering.

3:55
Did Oswaldo Arica solidify his spot on the Twins today?
Jeffrey Todd
3:56
I have a hard time believe one day's results would matter that much, BUT ... who knows? Maybe it puts an exclamation point on things, or maybe he showed an ability to incorporate some particular point of emphasis.

3:56
Is Jordan Zimmermann going to be worse this year considering he is in the American League now?
Jeffrey Todd
3:57
I don't agree with the way this is phrased, and I see people do it all the time. The pitcher isn't better or worse in either league, you just need to adjust the ERA.
3:58
But to answer: I've never been a huge believe in him as a top of the rotation starter, but I do love his approach on the hill and think he'll be a sturdy mid-rotation guy with some better and some worse years. (Think: 2014 and 2015.)
Craner
3:58
Do you think Gavin Floyd would have any trade value that the Blue Jays could use to fill another roster hole and allow Sanchez into the rotation?
Jeffrey Todd
3:59
These kinds of deals just don't really happen in practice. Toronto is going to want to get a chance to see if he can rebound, which is why they made the bet on him in the first place.
4:00
If he'd been just another minor league FA and was clearly just outside of the rotation with camp set to close, then you can imagine him being released to pursue another opportunity. But teams don't really tend to look to cash in on this type of player, in part b/c it's a way they attract those guys in the first place. ("Hey, if it's not happening here, we'll let you go if there's a big league opp.")

4:01
Did your wife get charged a "runway sitting" fee? I mean, she got an additional 4 hours of lavatory access. And those airline pretzels....
Jeffrey Todd
4:01
Actually we got $300 vouchers for her and my daughter. Score!
Matt E
4:02
You waited till I got home from work to start the chat? How nice. Haha. My question: has Billy Hamilton shown at all this spring that he can be a quality leadoff hitter?
Jeffrey Todd
4:03
His overall body of work suggests that he is not a guy you want leading off. Doesn't mean he can't be a productive major leaguer, but the speed is secondary to the OBP in his case. Fun guy to plug in the 8/9 hole, though.
Jordy
4:03
Should the Tigers sign Kyle Lohse?
Jeffrey Todd
4:04
Can't hurt to try him out.
Doug L.
4:04
If the Angels left field platoon doesn't work out, who can they realistically target on the trade market during the season?
Jeffrey Todd
4:04
This all depends entirely on whether they are willing/able to take on salary. If so, you've got a wide range of options. If not, you have to get pretty creative.
Dave P
4:04
Could the Cubs send Soler down for a few months to hold off arbitration and free agency for a year? His slow ST start would give them ample cover.
Jeffrey Todd
4:05
It would provide for a fun grievance proceeding! Certainly, they'd need to be much less obvious about it. And they'd have to really think it was best for him. My guess is that doesn't happen unless they don't foresee having the plate appearances to give him.
4:06
And my guess is it doesn't happen.
Brett
4:07
Boston has outfielders and the Indians have pitchers what would be a realistic trade?
Jeffrey Todd
4:08
Yeah, but which OFers would BOS actually be willing to trade? And which CLE pitchers would really, truly upgrade the Sox' staff?
The answers, maybe, are A) Rusney Castillo? B) ones that will not be given to get Rusney Castillo
4:09
Anyway, I don't really see the Red Sox as overflowing with outfield depth at this point.
Buck
4:09
how much do you think i should play Rickard? He's gotta be better than always injured Nolan and this new guy Kim right?
Jeffrey Todd
4:10
I think you want to limit the exposure of a guy like that while he gets acclimated. And they need to see what they have in Kim. So no rush in this case, I don't think.
Coach Dan
4:10
Where do you think Steven Adamson will get drafted in 2017? Sidearm pitcher from Fairfax VA
Jeffrey Todd
4:11
No idea. But I am answering b/c 1) thought you were asking about Steve Adams; 2) that's where I grew up (well, right next door)
Mackenzie
4:11
Who is going to win the Red Sox 3rd base battle; Pablo Sandoval or Travis Shaw?
Jeffrey Todd
4:11
This Pablo injury thing is certainly adding an interesting twist, because in theory he could end up on the 15-day DL and take a rehab assignment.
4:12
Barring that, I still think Shaw ends up in Triple-A.
Bobby Evans
4:12
Should I be concerned about my starting rotation? (ERA collectively is 8.50 in spring training)
Jeffrey Todd
4:12
Even if he is, nothing to be done about it now. They made their bets, now have to see how they play out and keep trying to get those young arms ready to go. Some will be needed this year and next.
Rob R
4:13
Davenport has both Chicago teams winning their division; Cubs winning 103 and Sox 88. Believable?
Jeffrey Todd
4:13
Both are plausible division winners, of course. I guess I'd lean towards those win tallies being toward the top of their reasonable range of likely outcomes, though.
Evan
4:14
With the year that Alfredo Simon had in '15 factored in, if he is hot in this years first half do you think the Reds should flip him?
Jeffrey Todd
4:14
I have no doubt they would do just that.
Mike
4:15
How soon till the Indians use Jose Ramirez everyday?
