Longer but fewer breaks I believe. So they'll go from the PAT right to the kickoff without going to commercial, but the breaks might be longer between quarters, etc.

Assuming the long-snapper rookie just drafted is healthy and plays the full year without error, could it be possible a long snapper wins the Joe Green award?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:30
I would hope not. That would mean TJ Watt, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Cam Sutton weren't very good.

What is your "dark-horse" team coming out of the AFC that could disrupt the playoff picture, i.e. Cinderella Team?  Same question for NFC?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:31
They made the playoffs last year so I don't know if you'd consider them a dark horse, but the Raiders could make some noise with a healthy Derek Carr. In the NFC, I think the Bucs could be a dark horse.

Does a Super Bowl win put Ben into retirement?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:31
Or serve as motivation to get one more and tie with Terry Bradshaw?

Do you know if we can still get tickets for Friday Night Practice?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:33
I imagine they are still on sale yes, but you'd have to check with the Steelers on that. I don't think they were limiting sales.

Thanks for the chat. When we play Brady I'd like to see 4 or 5 rushing and force him to throw. Even if he completes the pass once he gets hit a few times, I feel his dress will come off and he will become average. It works with the teams that beat him and the Pats. And it's better than the soft zone that has got us killed for 10 years even with prime players like Troy in the line up. What say you?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:34
Agree. I wrote about that extensively after the season. I think that's why they drafted Watt in round 1 and I think that's why they picked Cam Sutton in round 3. They realize they need to get a lot better in rush and coverage if they want to beat Tom Brady.

I cant see how Senquez's skills would erode that much. Colbert's remarks wouldn't just be motivational tactics would they?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:35
Golson didn't stand out in the spring. We'll find out for sure in camp. I think Colbert has serious concern that might be the case.

Terry Bradshaw was so exciting to watch (yes there was headaches too) and so was/is Big Ben (he too a few headaches).  With colleges not producing as many "NFL ready" qbs, do you think we'll have to wait another 20-30 years for such a great qb?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:36
That wouldn't be a good stretch for the Steelers if that's the case. Your scouts have to go out and find guys to operate in the NFL. But you're right. The colleges aren't playing por-style offenses so those guys are harder to find.

Is D'Angelo Williams on speed dial right now?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:37
No.

Ray, who will be the toughest opponent Steelers face during regular season (aside from Patriots)? Who will be easiest: still Browns?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:38
Hard to say any team other than the Browns given their constant state of ineptitude. The Steelers play a bunch of teams that made the playoffs last year including the Chiefs and Texans though the games that could give them the most trouble are the ones against elite QBs like the Colts and Lions.

Do we know if bell is reporting today?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:39
He won't be reporting today because camp doesn't start until tomorrow. And no, I don't expect him to be there.

12:39
Are the Steelers content with Kniles Davis and James Conner as backups? DeAngelo wont be considered to bring back?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:39
As long as both are healthy I think they will be content, yes.

12:39
What is a realistic stack total for TJ Watt this year?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:40
Depends on how much he plays. Anything over 5 would have to be considered great if he's splitting time with Harrison.

Can the Steelers be a team prepared week-in and week-out and win the games they're supposed to win?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:40
They'll have to be that team if they want to earn the No. 1 seed in the AFC.

12:40
Is it that the Steelers didn't have the talent to play man to man defense or was it a case of believing zone coverage was the best approach?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:41
Tomlin pretty much came out and said they didn't have the personnel to play man in that game.
Paul
12:42
Do you feel Vince Williams is a legitimate option at starting ILB ? I know he's had some success as a spot-starter, but do you feel he can hang in a full-time role?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:42
He had better be. They don't really have any other viable options.
Charles demarr
12:42
Give me one surprise player that no one is talking about that has a great chance to make the team this year
Ray Fittipaldo
12:43
I don't know that many spots are truly open. But I'll go with someone where the Steelers don't have much depth: ILB Matt Galambos. But he's a long shot.

Did you happen to see the letang- Owens video? I know letang does his work on skates, but still crazy the disparity in athleticism
Ray Fittipaldo
12:45
I saw it but didn't click play. There are different types of athleticism. There is a big difference between hockey and football skills.
Paul
12:45
Prime for prime for prime, who you taking: Greg Lloyd, Joey Porter or James Harrison?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:45
Harrison. He was NFL defensive player of the year in 2008. Was truly great in his prime.

I wonder sometimes why the team sticks with players who are clearly unsatisfactory for so long. Jarvis Jones, Markus Wheaton, the WR from a few yrs ago they drafted no.2 who eventually left to go to Titans--your thoughts? And thanks for the chat!
Ray Fittipaldo
12:46
Because you invest a high-round pick in them and want to make sure you're giving them every opportunity to excel before admitting a mistake.

Has Matekavich gotten any quicker?  I like the way he plays, unfortunately he always seems just a step too slow.
