How's it going? Let's get some questions in the queue and we'll get started shortly.

If Erick Aybar is traded, what will he bring back to the Braves?
Jeffrey Todd
2:17
Let's see how his first half goes, b/c I don't think he gets traded before that. But he's a talented guy, and if he returns to being an above average hitter, he could return something interesting if there's enough demand.

Will the Red Sox's go after another starter before season starts.
Jeffrey Todd
2:17
I doubt it. They had every opportunity to do so already, and Dombrowski downplayed any possibility of it in comments last night to Ken Rosenthal.
rick
2:18
do you expect the angels to make any opening day changes to bolster the outfield
Jeffrey Todd
2:18
Unless a golden opportunity opens up because someone loses a roster spot elsewhere, probably not an upgrade so much as maybe swapping in some depth pieces.

Is there really any chance of Lucroy still being moved in spring? Some writers seem to think so but I'm not so sure
Jeffrey Todd
2:19
Unclear. I mean, I'm sure MIL would be open to it. And an injury could always change things.
Ryan
2:19
Would the White Sox be better using their newly found money now on a bat or take a wait and see approach and maybe use it towards a pitcher or 2 at the deadline?
Jeffrey Todd
2:20
I think it would make sense to look for an opportunity to add someone, but keep most of the powder dry for the summer. Unclear still whether there will be any buyout.
@MikeSilvermanBB
Carson Smith MRI results: strain of flexor mass muscle. Will go on DL. Expected to pitch this year, no timetable available.
2:22
So, there you go - not the worst news, but not the best. Homer Bailey, Mat Latos, Andrew Miller have had the same injury and missed varying amounts of time/had varying complications down the line.
Brendan
2:22
There is some talk about the Nats' crowded outfield. What do you think they do with Harper, Revere, Werth, and Taylor?
Jeffrey Todd
2:23
As I noted when I ran that bullet today, I think it will take care of itself and all four will see time. Obviously Harper plays everyday barring injury, but you could easily see Taylor opening as the 4th guy but still getting over 400 PAs even without someone else getting hurt.

Aaron Sanchez lands in the pen or the rotation?
Jeffrey Todd
2:23
My guess at this point is the pen - seems they'll likely give a shot to some of the veterans in the rotation, and it doesnt sound like they want him to return to Triple-A just to stay stretched out.

Hey Jeff, do you see Michael Conforto having a breakout year in the middle of a revamped Mets' lineup in his first year as the full time left fielder?
Jeffrey Todd
2:24
My expectations are somewhat tempered. He moved up quickly and still has a lot to show. Maybe a slightly above average overall campaign? Not to say he can't do more, but I'm not ready to label him ROY.
Ryan
2:25
Does Strasburg resign with the Nats or is he already being fitted for a Yankee/Dodger uniform?
Jeffrey Todd
2:25
Way too soon to tell, but I would not necessarily count out the Nats or count in the Dodgers/Yanks.
peter
2:25
Do the Cubs have enough pitching?
Jeffrey Todd
2:25
They have the depth, so yeah, enough in that sense. And if they need to add another top-flight arm, the trade market is still available.

2:26
As an angels fan, coming into spring training , they were 8 deep in the rotation and now injuries are happening, how do you see their rotation in 2016? Do they have players to trade to make a move?
Jeffrey Todd
2:26
That's just going to be an area they are playing around with early on. They'll have to get by in the early going and hope their guys get healthy (and that Weaver can be at least serviceable, if not more).
2:27
They really dont have non-MLB assets to be a major deadline acquirer, though there are always plenty of guys who can be had for salary relief -- if the Halos are willing/able to add over the summer.
Jon
2:28
is d.norris worth more than lucroy?
Jeffrey Todd
2:28
Not for me. He's got an extra year of control. Neither is terribly expensive. I'd rather roll the dice on Lucroy restoring his sheen.
Spanky
2:28
Think the Mets go cheap again and move deAza to the Indians?
Jeffrey Todd
2:29
Dont see the Indians taking his salary, but I feel like the Mets would give him to anyone willing to do so.
Len
2:29
could sale get traded?
Jeffrey Todd
2:29
Even if the White sox are more willing to do a deal than they might have otherwise been, it won't be for less than fair value and it's not likely to happen this spring.

2:29
Do you think if the Blue Jays are out of playoff contention (granted there is still lots to play, last year was a great example) that they trade edwin and bautista? Who would be takers?
Jeffrey Todd
2:30
Way too soon to guess where, but yeah, they'd have to be open to that if things don't work out and neither has reached an extension.
Colavito
2:30
Now that catchers are evaluated on pitch framing, when will they come up with a statistic on game calling by catchers? I would think that a catcher experienced in calling a game would be more valuable than a rookie catcher who does not know the hitters or his own pitchers as well. Keep in mind though that the pitcher's execution of the pitch called is really what matters.
Jeffrey Todd
2:31
Seems like that will be hard to isolate, but maybe it could be captured as part of a multi-factor analysis of some kind.

2:32
Does Lucroy to the Jays make sense? they are so thin behind the plate if anything ever happened to Martin, they could use Lucroy as DH or at first when he's not catching.
Jeffrey Todd
2:32
Other teams would have more motivation to acquire him.

Everyone seems to be focused on the Angels IF but to me they seem to have much bigger holes at 1B (CJ Cron is slatted get most of the AB's), 2B (Johnny Giavotella) and C (Perez and Soto). Any chance they make an upgrade at one of those positions soon?
Jeffrey Todd
2:33
Hate to say, the ship has probably sailed for the most part. I tend to agree, though, that OF isn't the most glaring need, in part b/c it's easier to cobble together useful pieces there.
