Just because the Cubs have had interest in Lugo doesn't mean they equate his value to that of Happ. Happ is better, has more team control and is an all-around more valuable asset.

No way the Giants take that. The only way you think Samardzija is a comparably bad contract is if you look only at his ERA. Shark's K-BB numbers were sensational this season, the velocity was good... he's going to bounce back in his surface-level stats next year.
