Matt Cain will be remembered as _____?
Steve Adams
3:53
A Giants legend and workhorse that helped them to multiple World Series rings. He's not going into Cooperstown but I can certainly see the Giants retiring his number or something
Earl
3:53
Most surprising manager change?
Steve Adams
3:54
Mackanin getting moved to the front office took me by surprise. Ausmus and Collins have long seemed possible, but the Phils just extended Pete back in May
Rbase
3:54
What is the weirdest transaction that you had to cover this season (one that comes to mind immediately)?
Steve Adams
3:55
The Orioles acquiring Jeremy Hellickson. "Team with SP Needs acquires SP, thus increasing their need for SP"
3:56
Ha, it wasn't quite that bad at the time, but when they got him I just kind of thought, "...Why...?"
Rick
3:56
Will the Royals rebuild or retool and how do they go about doing that?
Steve Adams
3:57
Probably depends if Dayton Moore sticks around as the GM or if he jumps to Atlanta like a lot of people have already speculated.

I'd imagine they'll try to patch things together and compete next year since the Tigers and White Sox will give them a lot of easy wins.

Duquette or Buck...who stays..and if the other goes. Where do they go?
Steve Adams
3:58
They're both signed through 2018 and I think they'll both remain there through next season. I feel like Angelos would be more loyal to Buck, though that's completely speculative on my part.

if the cards trade for the bringer of rain what type of package does it take? Reyes obviously but what else
Steve Adams
4:01
I don't think Donaldson is going anywhere this winter. They've all but said he won't. Atkins just said, again, like 20 minutes ago that he'd only even entertain the thought if it definitively improved their 2018 roster. I don't think any trade partner is giving up more 2018 value than Donaldson will bring for one year of him.
THere we go -- told you coffee shop wifi might be an issue! ha
Back up and running now!

Putting you on the spot: Do you have any thoughts on Jonah Keri's recent take on prospects, ownership and labor relations?
Steve Adams
4:02
I can't be put on the spot yet because I've yet to read Jonah's column. I plan to do so tonight or tomorrow.

How badly will Avila fleece Dombrowski for Cabrera this offseason?
Steve Adams
4:03
No one -- Dombrowski or any other exec -- is going to part with a huge package for the current version of Cabrera and the rest of that contract.
It's the worst contract in baseball.

4:03
Hoskins? Stud or flash in the pan??
Steve Adams
4:03
Not this good, obviously, but a definite everyday 1B for the Phillies I'd say
Joe Maddon
4:03
Who do we get to replace Arietta? Zero chance Jake gets 7 years from us.
Steve Adams
4:04
I don't think Jake is getting seven from anyone. I'd be hard-pressed to even believe he gets six, though it's not impossible.
I still think there's a chance they'll find a five-year middle ground.

Is there any truth to the rumour that if Dusty is not brought back. The Mats would go after Bud Black again?
Steve Adams
4:05
I haven't seen that anywhere, and it doesn't make sense for about 5 different reasons. Namely, Rizzo has already publicly said he wants Dusty back. Dusty has said he wants to be back. Black is under contract in Colorado, and they wouldn't let him leave. If he DID leave, he wouldn't go to the org that botched his initial hiring so badly.
I'll Klentake a Starter
4:06
Could Cesar and maybe a low ball prospect fetch a trading low Lefty SP, like Heaney or Finnegan?
Steve Adams
4:06
Could see the Heaney framework making some sense. Klentak probably likes/knows him from his Halos days as well.

Is Paul Molitor managing the Twins next year?
Steve Adams
4:07
I don't see how they can fire him at this point even though they probably entered the season thinking they'd hire their own guy this winter.
Friar Faithful

Franchy Cordero for Jurickaon Profar? Resign Tyson Ross for 1.75 mil, used to Hedges, Ballsely and NL West. Go for Hosmer and move Myers to left. Much need high BA and on base percentage. Fills in big need for middle of order bat.
Steve Adams
4:09
I really just don't see much value in Jurickson -- I mean, sure he could still pan out and he's young and all. But he has three years of control remaining, not six, and he's never hit a lick in the Majors to this point. I suppose Franchy isn't some exorbitant price to pay, but the Profar/Padres thing to me feels so forced. If it were going to happen, I feel like it already would've by now.
Ross for a couple million, sure, but don't get your hopes up. And signing Hoz doesn't make sense for the Padres, who would be hard-pressed to convince him to sign on a losing club anyhow.
Jimbo
4:09
You really think Miggy's deal is worse than Pujols'?
Steve Adams
4:10
Pujols is signed through 2021. Cabrera through 2023.
Cabrera is owed $192MM through 2023. Miguel Cabrera is owed almost $200MM over the next six years.
RP
4:11
Free agency or extensions for Machado or Mr. Harper?
Steve Adams
4:11
Free agency
