Greetings all. As this initial debate roars on, feel free to start sending in questions.
Dave Martinez

How much longer am I the Nationals manager?
Steve Adams
3:19
We've seen ownership with a pretty quick trigger in the past, but I do wonder if Martinez will stick around longer because he was reportedly hired only after the Lerner family (ownership) spurned GM Mike Rizzo's desire to keep Dusty Baker around
If they have another terrible showing in May, I guess I could see something happening in June

What do I do with Jacoby Jones and his .148 avg and 37% strike out rate?  Please advise....I need HELP!
Steve Adams
3:20
(Al Avila = Tigers GM)

I don't know that there's a ton to be done with Jones. He's obviously a gifted defender but he has more than 700 MLB plate appearances and has never made good contact, nor was he ever projected to have a good hit tool. I don't think he's a long-term piece there.
Lester
3:21
Jon Lester a future HOFer?
Steve Adams
3:22
He's going to finish up his career north of 50 WAR with a huge postseason resume and three World Series rings (at least). Still pitching well, and he'll get to 200 wins (not that that really matters to many voters anymore, but it'll be a nice round number for some traditionalists who still hold votes) -- I think he's got a real good chance to go in, yeah.
Acuna
3:23
Ronald Acuna, a better lead-off hitter or clean-up hitter?
Steve Adams
3:23
He's a good hitter, period. I wouldn't really fret about where he hits in the lineup. I'd bat him second or third, but Acuna at leadoff = more plate appearances for him in general, which is a good thing as well.

Realistic OF trade targets for Cleveland? Adam Eaton a possibility?
Steve Adams
3:26
Are the Nationals paying down the remainder of this season's salary? He's only earning $8.4MM in 2019, but I don't think anyone making any notable salary is much of a target for the Indians, who've proven they don't intend to spend after going higher than they preferred in recent years. Still not sure the Nats are intent on selling, either. Could always go after one of the Padres' pre-arb guys (Renfroe, Franmil, etc.) -- but there's no real guarantee those guys are better than current in-house options.

I'm cautiously optimistic regarding Oscar Mercado anyway
Mitch Haniger
3:26
Can you see me getting traded this year? If so, what would the return look like?
Steve Adams
3:26
I don't think even Dipoto is keen on trading Haniger. I see him as a building block in Seattle.

Do you think Bumgarner gets moved?  Any sense of where he might land?
Steve Adams
3:28
100% but too early to tell where. Bodes well for the Rays and Twins that they're obvious contenders who aren't on his no-trade list, but I don't think the no-trade clause is going to be a massive impediment to getting a deal done or anything.

Does Royce Lewis see the majors this year?
Steve Adams
3:29
He's 20 and has played 80 games in High-A. I don't think he's in Minnesota until 2020 at the earliest.

Tuning in for Kershaw v Paddack tonight?
Steve Adams
3:29
Most certainly.

If Lester is a Hall of Famer, then CC has to get in also?
Steve Adams
3:30
I've said numerous times that CC is a Hall of Famer in the past. I think his case is an easy call. Lester is a bit more borderline for me but he's also much younger and still pitching.
Well, so is CC -- but I meant still pitching beyond 2019

Has Frankie Montas solidified his spot in the A's rotation, even after their injured guys start coming back?
Steve Adams
3:31
I don't see how they could take Montas out. He's a clear mid-rotation piece for me based on what he's done so far. Strong ground-ball rate, plenty of missed bats, premium control -- he's there to stay.
3:32
Or, at least until he pitches himself out of the job. But he's not getting bumped because someone else gets healthy -- not when he's throwing like this.

CC 1st ballot HOF in your professional opinion?
Steve Adams
3:33
If someone's a HOFer, they're a HOFer. The notion that someone is worth voting for in their second year but not their first is farcical to me. I get that sometimes voters can't vote for everyone who deserves it and that there's an element of strategy in keeping guys on the ballot, but I won't ever specify that someone is a first-ballot HOFer. It is binary to me. Is he a Hall of Famer? Yes or no? In CC's case, it's a resounding yes.

Do the Jays trade both Stroman/Sanchez, Keep both long term or Trade 1 and keep 1.
Steve Adams
3:34
I think they both get moved, as long as they're healthy.
Matt Kemp

Will I ever play MLB again?
Steve Adams
3:34
I can see an AL club picking him up and giving him a look at DH. Cleveland maybe?

Can teams strike a deal with Keuchel/Kimbrel before the draft and promise to make it official after the draft?
Steve Adams
3:35
I'm sure there's a lot of those talks going on right now. Wouldn't surprise me if it was reported prior to the draft that either was "expected" to sign with a certain team post-draft and then as soon as the draft was done it became official.
I don't think either will linger long once the draft is complete.
Love for cubs
3:35
Ian happ for will Smith? Who says no first?
Steve Adams
3:36
Cubs don't have a place for him right now apparently, but I don't think they'd trade him for a few-month rental of Will Smith. I know they did it with Gleyber/Aroldis, but it's a tough sell for me this time around.
Halo
3:37
Thought on Tommy La Stella?
Steve Adams
3:40
I find Tommy La Stella's performance to be among the most baffling and inexplicable in all of MLB so far in 2019, ha. I cannot fathom how he's hitting 28% of his fly-balls for home runs when he entered the season at about 5-6% in that regard. I don't think that's sustainable, nor is the 6% strikeout rate, but he looks to be a genuinely improved hitter. The Angels deserve credit; he feels a bit like Scooter Gennett 2.0 right now
