The asking price on either would be enormous. They can try, but I don't think it's especially realistic for them.

Does Tanaka opt out?  3 years at 67MM isnt a lot these days
Steve Adams
5:20
It's not, and he's also been really really really good since late May (with the exception of that seven-run bludgeoning by the Rangers a couple starts ago). I fully expect him to opt out, then tons of people to make comments like "LOL 4.50 ERA and he opts out!!" Then call some GM a moron when he gives Tanaka something $90-110MM.

Ahhhh free agency. I can't wait.

Ian Kinser will be what team next season?
Steve Adams
5:21
Complete guess: Angels!
Jim
5:21
Who starts next year as the #1 Starting pitcher prospect?
Steve Adams
5:22
Michael Kopech would be my guess for #1 SP prospect on most lists
Doug
5:22
What does the Jays outfield look like next year
Steve Adams
5:24
Teoscar in left, Pillar in center, and either a Carrera/Pearce combo or some marginal short-term FA placeholder until Alford is ready for an everyday look

What teams do you see trending toward a reboot/rebuild in the next couple of seasons? Detroit, Baltimore, Toronto?
Steve Adams
5:24
Tigers have already done it!
5:25
Orioles should do so as well. Royals are another. Maybe the Pirates. (Cue the: "Are the Pirates ever NOT rebuilding?" jokes)

What's the ETA of a Tigers' rotation with Franklin Perez, Alex Faedo, Beau Burrows and Matt Manning?
Steve Adams
5:27
I honestly wouldn't ever expect to ever see all four of them in the same rotation. That's not a knock on any of those individual players -- but how often do you ever see four pitching prospects within any organization all stay healthy and pan out as MLB-caliber starters? It doesn't happen.

I can see Perez and/or Burrows making it up late 2018. Manning and Faedo haven't played above A-ball yet, so you're looking more in the 2019-20 range there, I think.

Bigger contract: JD Martinez or Alex Cobb?
Steve Adams
5:28
Martinez. Not even a question. I think he could sign for double what Cobb gets (or more)
