Steve Adams
3:21
My apologies to Jeff Todd fans. He's on vacation so you're stuck with me for a second time this week.
3:22
But we shall have a joyous and glorious time, I promise.
I'll get rolling in earnest in a minute here -- feel free to start piling up questions
Brian
3:23
Which team do you think has the most pressure to succeed in the playoffs?
Steve Adams
3:24
I think there's a fair amount of pressure on any team there -- that's the nature of postseason play. But among the current group, the Nationals are a bit older than some of their peers and are only guaranteed this year and next with Harper and an in-prime Scherzer, so I suppose I'd pick them.
Jose jose jose!

Am i paying HST (tax in Ontario Canada) next year? Or hanging em up? Do i have any value other than nostalgia in Toronto still?
Steve Adams
3:25
I think he's done in Toronto but could still sign another one-year deal in the $5-8MM range this offseason. Still walks a lot, still has power. Stick him at DH, get him off the turf, see what happens.
Nats Fan
3:25
There is not a better lineup or pitching staff in baseball right? This is the nats year to win the World Series.
Steve Adams
3:25
I mean Cleveland just won 22 games in a row and hasn't lost back to back games since early August or something.

Do the Braves get Archer this winter? What do they give up?
Steve Adams
3:26
I don't think anyone gets Archer this winter. The constant barrage of Archer trade rumors makes little sense to me, and if the Braves *did* trade for Archer, you'd probably be angry with how much they had to give up to get him. That contract is preposterously team-favorable
Oren
3:27
I won't bother asking about the yearly salary, but I'm curious how many years you expect 28-year old Eric Hosmer to land on his free agent contract?
Steve Adams
3:28
The overall length of the contract may well be moot, since I'm sure it'll have an opt-out after the third year or so.

I'm more bullish on him than Tim or Jeff and think he's going to head out there looking for eight years. If you set the over/under at 5.5 years on contract length, I'd take the over.

Has tim beckham done enough to be the starting short stop next year
Steve Adams
3:29
He's been every bit as bad this month as he was good last month. I was genuinely intrigued by his dramatically reduced strikeout rate in August and his improved levels of hard contact, but he looks like the TB version of Beckham in September. I'm not convinced.

3:30
Assuming Lind declines his half of the mutual option, could he be a canditade the Nats would want to resign? Or could we see him on a new team where he might platoon and get more ABs?
Steve Adams
3:32
The Nats haven't spent especially heavily on bench options in recent years, and I think Lind has earned a pretty notable raise. Still, he's going to be Plan B or C for a lot of teams, so if the Nats come right at him with something like the John Jaso deal -- maybe a bit more... 2/10 to 2/11ish... could just decide to stick around.

What order would you rank the impact on the Twins season of Buxton, Mauer, Dozier, Rosario, or Sano?
Steve Adams
3:32
Buxton, Sano, Dozier, Rosario, Mauer
3:33
Oh I misread that as asking for next year
This year probably more like Buxton, Rosario, Dozier, Sano, Mauer -- they've all been very good, though, obviously

3:33
Is A-Gon done as a regular for a 1B?
Steve Adams
3:34
I have a hard time seeing him providing enough value with that back condition at his age
Chat-Wood
3:34
Is Tyler Chatwood a sleeper candidate for a really good offseason SP pickup? Cubs? M's? Marlins? Brewers?
Steve Adams
3:35
I think he's more of a sleeper to the general fan than to MLB front offices. 80% of baseball fans probably have no idea who Tyler Chatwood is, but teams are well aware of his velocity, ground-ball tendencies, avoidance of hard contact, etc.
AJ
3:35
Justin Bour to the Rays this offseason?
Steve Adams
3:36
I just don't love the idea of them trading for the most readily available skill set the market has to offer. The first base market could very well fall through again and leave them with several options that allow them to affordably sign a player that isn't all that dissimilar
Hypothetical

2018 Rookies of the Year.....
Steve Adams
3:37
I picked Benintendi and Manuel Margot this year. You sure you want my guess? Ha.
(Not that either's had a bad year, but neither is close to winning)
I haven't given that a shred of thought. I'll ponder as I move through other questions
Brewers in '18
3:38
How will the Brew Crew match or exceed their '17 record in '18?
Steve Adams
3:39
Full year of Woodruff, better health from Chase Anderson, more Josh Hader, a big helping hand from Lewis Brinson and probably some offseason attention to the bullpen/rotation
Molitor
3:39
Granted that you don't care much for the Manager of the Year award, doesn't Molly deserve it?
Steve Adams
3:41
MLB teams as a whole have sac bunted with their #3 hitters something like 12 times this season, and literally half of them are Molitor. He kind of drives me nuts to watch, but he seems to be a good off-field leader and he's helped the Twins to embrace defensive shifting more aggressively than they ever could have under Gardenhire.

He'll probably win it, just because Manager of the Year is usually manager of that league's least-expected playoff team.

3:41
Of Tulo, Devon Travis or Aaron Sanchez, who provides the most value to the 2018 Blue Jays?
Steve Adams
3:41
I'd bet on Sanchez providing more value than the other two combined. I have no faith in either Tulo or Travis remaining healthy.
Eric
3:42
Who us the 3rd outfielder with Teoscar and Pillar?
Steve Adams
3:42
Some free-agent stopgap or Ezequiel Carrera early in the year. Anthony Alford eventually, I would think.
wes gaier
3:43
julio teheran for ian happ and carl edwards jr this off season? who says no?
