Is minor the closer next year for KC and Nicasio for STL
Steve Adams
4:05
Both are free agents... I don't know that I see either's current team as any kind of strong favorite to retain them. It's possible, sure, but if given the choice of "Royals vs. the Field" for Minor and "Cards vs. the Field" for Nicasio, I'd take the field on both
Clayton Richard
4:05
Should I have waited out free agency?
Steve Adams
4:06
He's happy in San Diego, got offered multiple years, and is more valuable for his durability and grounders than his ability to miss bats. I think it's a really team-friendly deal, but I don't blame a guy for taking the cash when he barely found an MLB deal a year ago and has virtually no stability in his career for a few years now.

Where does Sam Dyson go from here?
Steve Adams
4:08
He's still arbitration eligible, so I'd imagine he goes back to the Giants' bullpen in 2018. He's been solid there, albeit not quite as good as he was with Texas in 2016.

4:08
Does mariners go in for Otani?
Steve Adams
4:09
I'm sure they'll be one of the 15ish teams that make a serious pitch for him
Rockies 2018
4:09
Do you see the Rockies contending next year without Greg holland given the impact he's had this year?
Steve Adams
4:10
I think you and I differ on the level of impact Holland has had. He hasn't been that good since June. I think they'll be fine without him, and they'll probably add some kind of arm in an effort to deepen the pen when he takes more cash elsewhere.
Jeff Todd

Hey Steve, calling in from the French Riviera. Les folks here want to know which pending free agents are likely to re-sign with their current team. Wade Davis?
Steve Adams
4:12
Slow down the drinking Jeff. You and I talked about Davis like 2-3 days ago. If you can't remember that, it's troubling.

We agreed he's probably not coming back since the Cubs haven't made especially expensive overtures (financially speaking) in the bullpen in recent years. They'll probably look for a more creative late-inning solution -- maybe someone with less track record but pretty believable dominance in 2017? (OH HEY THAR MIKE MINOR)

Rockies vs (most likely) d-backs in the WC. Who you got?
Steve Adams
4:13
D-backs are a better team top to bottom, and both Greinke and Ray are better than anyone the Rockies would throw.
Doesn't mean Rox can't win -- it's one game after all -- but I'm taking the D-backs there.
Josh Hader
4:13
Am I a starter or a reliever long-term?
Steve Adams
4:14
I think if the Brewers were truly convinced he was a reliever in the long run they'd have moved him in a Quintana deal (assuming said rumors had some legitimacy). He'll get every opportunity to start down the line, I imagine.

4:15
Where do you think Jake Arrieta ends up in the offseason? WIll he get a 5 year deal and over $100 million?
Steve Adams
4:17
I haven't exactly thought all that long and hard about free-agent destinations just yet, but I do think he'll clear $100MM. Cubs, Dodgers, Giants, Angels -- take your pick from any of the big-market teams in need of rotation help. And, since he's a Boras client, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the Nationals.
Braves if they wanna get weird, I guess.

4:18
Did the Tigers decide to tank for the first pick? Or just bad circumstances?
Steve Adams
4:19
They decided they were a losing team that has clearly had a rapidly closing window for years and finally saw that window close. Good on them for shedding so much money and adding some value to the farm, though their return on JDM looked weak at the time and looks comically light now.

4:20
Who's a legitimate trade candidate for the Reds to fill out their rotation next year?
Steve Adams
4:20
Chacin? Fister? That type of veteran looking at a max of two years seems to make sense to me.
Big Lance Lynn
4:21
Where do I end up? Not crazy that the Cards didn't sit down with me.
Steve Adams
4:23
Cubs, Orioles, Mariners, Twins, Rangers are among the teams I figure will look at second-tier arms like Lynn and Cobb. Giants, too. (They'll probably be tied to virtually every free agent of note.)

I'm not a huge Lance Lynn guy... he got by with a lot of BABIP and strand-rate help this year, isn't a huge ground-ball guy, doesn't generate Estrada-esque insane levels of infield flies... he's a solid-ish arm but I wouldn't want to go near him at the four year range he's probably going to find this winter.

Whats your favorite MLB Stadium; Team
Steve Adams
4:23
Still love AT&T the most of the 14 I've been to. Grew up in St. Paul suburbs and have been following the Twins my whole life. (Last night was fun)

4:23
Will the Marlins end up signing Lorenzo Cain? if they trade Yelich or Stanton
Steve Adams
4:23
I don't see any scenario in which Cain goes to Miami, no
Ralph C
4:24
Do you feel it is more likely the Cubs go after a top end FA pitcher like Arrieta, Darvich, Cueto or Tanaka (if either of the last 2 opt out) or a guy like Lynn, Cobb or even Chatwood.
Steve Adams
4:25
Second tier guys -- the three you mentioned are all logical targets for me
Judge
4:25
Am I MVP? I've had a monster season. Does the fact I did it as a rookie help my chances?
Steve Adams
4:25
I don't think his rookie status helps. It's him or Altuve at this point, and I wouldn't fault anyone for voting one way or the other. It's really close.
4:27
Ok, I'm going to wrap up for the week. I'll chat again next Tuesday at 2pm CT. You can ask me questions to your heart's content on Twitter (@Adams_Steve) and ask the general MLBTR staff questions in our ongoing Mailbag feature via email: mlbtrmailbag@gmail.com. We're always looking for good questions to turn into posts on the site there, so email anytime.
