It makes too much sense for the Rockies to do. They prefer spending $10 million a year to get a 4th outfielder's declining years and pretending it'll help them win 69 games instead of 68 and that makes their rebuilding easier because crazy reasons.

Why has no team experimented with treating/paying minor leaguers like human beings? Seems like the payoff would be well worth the cost. Is there a class-solidarity thing going on where no team wants to be the one that steps up and demonstrates that having minor leaguers paid okay is possible?

Well, some teams *are* trying to do a better job with their minor leaguers. But progress in baseball is glacial.
