Good afternoon, let's begin a tad early
kinkhcw
1:58
your opinion on the early 2- point attempt ?
Ed Bouchette
1:59
They're great for the Steelers when they work, not so great when they don't. They did not work so well last season and off to a poor start in this one. There was nothing wrong with a 20-0 score.

I love the new defense! Do you think they can be a top 5 defense throughout the entire season barring injuries?
Ed Bouchette
1:59
Yes, if they stay healthy. They cannot lose Cam Heyward and, for stretches like last season, Ryan Shazier.

What do Joe Flacco and Brock Osweiller have in common? Both highly overpaid, underperformers on the field? At least the Texans found a sucker to take on that contract… Of course it was the Brownies…
Ed Bouchette
2:00
Joe Flacco has had a lot more success than Osweiller through the years.

Now that he's losing PT to BJ Finney, why does Xavier Grimble get a hat every week? Seems as though David Johnson might have been a better choice as 3rd TE since he was a good blocker and could catch.
Ed Bouchette
2:02
I like Grimble and I think he should be ahead of Vance McDonald, who has dropped the only 2 passes thrown to him. But Mac earned a lot of points with his coaches by running down that guy in Chicago

Considering Burns, Haden, and Hilton are playing well, where does Cam Sutton see playing time when he returns from IR?
Ed Bouchette
2:03
It will depend on how he does in practice but they use a lot of six DBs and he could fit in there

Are you getting the sense that we will go as far as the defense carries us or will the offense come around?
Ed Bouchette
2:03
The Steelers offense has too much talent not to come around.

2:04
Much as I'm not a Harbaugh fan, he always comes up with some rules challenge that turns a reception and a downed runner into an interception. Is his football IQ that high? How do you compare him and Tomlin?
Ed Bouchette
2:04
The officials ruled Brown never had position, that he was bobbling it. Tomlin and Ben agreed with that decision

Hello Ed. Do you feel the Steelers might consider bringing back Demarcus Ayers for his punt return abilities? Thank you
Ed Bouchette
2:04
This is a joke, right?

Has L. Bell been worth $3,025,000 for the 4 games he has played so far? Can you see him getting the franchise tag next year making $1,000,000 per game?
Ed Bouchette
2:05
He will be if he plays the way he did in Baltimore. Yes, I can see them tagging him again provided he plays the way he did in Baltimore the rest of the season.

Do you think Eli Rogers will continue to be deactivated?
Ed Bouchette
2:06
I asked Mike Tomlin today why he did that. He said because Eli fumbled the punt in Chicago and wanted to give him the game off. He said he had a good week last week in practice and he will go week by week on that decision

Do you think the Antonio Brown's outburst is being overblown?
Ed Bouchette
2:06
No
Plus, what else would you rather read about? There is a reason why TV keeps showing soap operas

Hi Ed. Thanks for the chat. Is it just me or does it seem like Terry Bradshaw never has anything good to say about the Steelers? In my opinion he clearly has an issue. What's his problem?

Jacksonville has had good success against the passing game so far this year. Do you see a Bell heavy game again on Sunday?
Ed Bouchette
2:07
Yes, Jags give up a lot of yards on the ground

Assuming Sutton makes it back in the coming weeks, is Gay's limited playing time getting squeezed even more?
Ed Bouchette
2:08
That will depend on Cam Sutton

What is your assessment of todd Haleys play calling? At times its very predictable and conservative especially on first down.
Ed Bouchette
2:10
People always want to complain about offensive coordinators. I've never seen one yet with the Steelers who fans really liked. Everyone always has their own idea how to run an offense, how to call plays. I have no problem with Haley's play-calling.

Are Tuitt and Heyward the Steelers' most dynamic D-line combo since the 70s? I loved the heyday of Casey Hampton and Aaron Smith -- nobody could stuff the run like those guys in their prime. But watching Tuitt and Heyward make splash play after splash play feels different.
Ed Bouchette
2:11
The Steelers also play a different defense than those guys did. Keith Butler allows them to make those big plays by having them play a 1-gap scheme rather than 2-gap, which required more muscle. These guys are good, but I'm not going to say they are better than Smith-Hampton-Keisel in their prime.

Did you  like how well James Conner played  when called?
Ed Bouchette
2:13
So far, yes, but he hasn't been called much 9 carries, 46 yards
odb
2:13
whats the story with hawkin, still hurt from last year?
Ed Bouchette
2:13
No, he's healthy
Ike Steelheart

I took Just a few years to fully rebuild this team both in D and O with no losing season. Will Colbert stay until he retires in Pitt?
Ed Bouchette
2:14
I would have to say yes, especially after signing an extension this year through 2020 draft
