Good afternoon. Let's begin

Hi Ed thanks for your time. So Ross Cockrell looked pretty bad, the answer always seems to be well we have to see what Sutton and Gholson can do. Doesn't the mere fact that we haven't seen it make it dangerous to assume they will work out and should definitely look to add another CB at this point? Thank you Sir
Ed Bouchette
1:58
They should have done that long before now. They acknowledged Gholson had an uphill battle to begin with. Don't rule out UFA Coty Sensabaugh as a possibility, but they probably could have done better.

Hi Ed thanks for your time. What is your opinion of Paul Ziese stating we should be adding Kapernick immediately?? Thank you sir.
Ed Bouchette

He has a point, but would Kap want to come to a team where Ben is the starter? And if you wait and something happens to Ben, then it might be too late. All things being equal, I think he'd be a good backup choice. However, I don't think Landry Jones' injury will linger much longer. If it does, they better have a backup plan.

Hi Ed - Does the coaching staff feel confident enough in Artie Burns to line him up against the opposing team's No. 1 wideout every week? Do you feel this would help simplify coverages in the secondary?
Ed Bouchette
2:00
I don't know about simplify, but I would assume that is the plan.

Any word on Bell signing and getting some practice in with his Steeler Brothers, before the end of preseason?
Ed Bouchette
2:01
I've said all along it probably won't be until next week. A few others thought this week. We're all guessing but I can guarantee you he won't miss the start of the season.

Do you believe Colin Kaepernick is a better NFL quarterback than Landry Jones?
Ed Bouchette
2:02
Yes but if you are saying just switch them out, it's not that simple. Remember that Kap opted out of his SF contract for a lot more money than the Steelers would be willing to pay him.  Now, maybe the ensuing months have brought his price way down but until we know that, we don't know if he'd come for backup pay.

Martavis Bryant was cleared to participate both in training camp and preseasons games. Any news of his status for the regular season?
Ed Bouchette
2:03
No, the NFL is making everyone wait for that.
Neil Ruxton Gross

HI Ed-  Can you clarify how many W.R's Coach Tomlin will keep on the 53 man roster........Justin Hunter looks to be a big target and could play special teams as well. Also, #35 looked special?
Ed Bouchette
2:04
Put me down for a six pack
Mark Alt

Dangerfield seems to have a nose for the ball and a set of football hands. Will this be enough to keep him? What are his downsides?
Ed Bouchette
2:05
Jordan had two interceptions the other day and while I don't want to down play that, I could have gathered in that second balloon.

With our secondary being so bad, why didn't the Steelers ever give Revis a chance.  He can't be much worst than Cockrell.
Ed Bouchette
2:05
Have you noticed that Revis remains unsigned? There are reasons for that.
Jon
2:06
Ed, a lot has been said how the secondary and 3rd down defense....Pass rush need to improve this year and I agree. But isn't also just as important  that Big Ben plays a lot better on the road than he did last year? It seemed he could only shine at home and to me that's concerning.
Ed Bouchette
2:06
Yes, and I think he will tell you that if given the opportunity
Todd - MI
2:06
Any chance Houston beats out Dobbs for the 3rd QB spot?
Ed Bouchette
2:06
No

Hi Ed, love the weekly chats. Will there be a change in the defense when the regular season games start? I know they don't game plan much for these preseason shenanigans, but that defense just made me ill. Tell me I can expect more out of the Steeler D.
Ed Bouchette
2:07
Yes, you will see different and, they hope, better. My concern if I'm them -- a big one -- is if Ryan Shazier does not play.
Big Dan M

Ed, Am I really in danger of getting cut? Im the biggest guy on the team and can be a real run stuffer!
Ed Bouchette
2:08
I have you ticketed for a run out of town.

Did JUJU have a long list of injuries in college?  It seems like he has experienced a streak of injuries since joining the Steelers.  It makes me nervous seeing him get injured every week that he will be another draft pick who fails to live up to his potential due to injuries.
Ed Bouchette
2:09
He was relatively healthy at USC. Rookies with the Steelers have had a history of camp injuries -- Burns last year, Sutton, Conner and JuJu this year, even Bell as a rookie. JuJu will be a good one, I think.

Ed, are they going to take my punt return duties away from me? Just because some young free agent gets lucky ONE TIME???
Ed Bouchette
2:10
You can only hope.
gjs51
2:10
What is your over/under for sacks this season?
Ed Bouchette
2:10
0 sacks for me. Now snacks is another matter.
Fancy Pants

Shouldn't the Steelers be worried if Shazier needs to miss any length of time? None of the inside LB's are very fast.
Ed Bouchette
2:11
Big-time worry. I thought all along they should keep Timmons, who is making just $3 million a year. He would have been their James Harrison on the inside, a safety net.
Young
2:12
I know it was just preseason but that first team defense looked quite shaking your thoughts?
Ed Bouchette
2:12
It was just preseason.
Joe

I heard all this hype about how good Justin Hunter has looked in camp, yet he's way down on the depth chart. What do you think are his chances of making the team?
Ed Bouchette
2:13
He could make it as the fifth or sixth WR. I wouldn't get too excited about the fifth or sixth WR.
AJ
2:13
Are punt returns and kick returns so dramatically different that one player could never do both? No NFL team has one guy who can do both?
