In other words, do they think they can find that production cheaper from somewhere else.
1:09
Buy a non closer and elevate Edwards, get a back end pitcher like Arrieta was before he was Arrieta, that sort of thing.

Does signing Darvish give a team a leg up on winning the scrum for Otani?
Eno Sarris
1:09
I don't think so. These guys are individuals. Remember what Darvish said when Tanaka signed his deal?

We heard a lot of talk about high spin rates this postseason. Who’s the quintessential low spin rate pitcher? Keuchel? Hendricks?
Eno Sarris
1:11
Manaea, Perdomo, Carlos Martinez. Quintana. Gibson, Wood, keuchel. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/statcast_search?hfPT=FT%7C&hfAB=&hfBBT=...

Any worries about Greg Bird in 2018?  His ankle injury seemed like a fluke, and his bat is tempting
Eno Sarris
1:14
I'm in on Bird next year. Again.

Gregerson, Liriano, Beltran, Maybin and Centeno are Astros FAs. I’m not sure how that doesn’t get more hype for a repeat than the Dodgers losing a few more prominent pieces?
Eno Sarris
1:14
I think they both going to be good next year.

Not bad, not bad.

It's incredibly pretentious to call blog posts "pieces"
Eno Sarris
1:17
Obviously I disagree. This is my work. Some of my pieces take weeks, months to write. Literally, since I've begun collecting quotes for ideas through the whole season. I pay people to do research for them, so there are teams putting these pieces together. Just because they go up on a website does not devalue them. They more permanent than a print magazine, would you say the same of a magazine piece?

wow Upton just re-signed with Angels
Eno Sarris
1:17
I thought this might happen. I wonder if they have money to go after a starting pitcher too.
1:18
Hey I'm near silverlake and this voice is calming and soothing, like the opposite of Larry David.

Related to the George Springer fantasy question, would now be a good time to target Yu Darvish in an auction league?
Eno Sarris
1:19
I'd rather be sure he signed with an NL team first.

Have we come to the point where the dodger acknowledge that they will not get a ring with Clayton Kershaw?  He is a great, if not the best regular season pitcher, however he can't put a team on his back and win the world series like MadBum can.
Eno Sarris
1:21
I think this is taking it too far, but it does interest me that he's pitched 122 postseason innings to a 4.35 ERA and seemingly has a homer issue in the postseason. He's a great pitcher, and I'm not saying he's a choker. They can win with him. They just need to get him a really good number two. And I wonder if he relies on the fastball too much in the postseason, which is full of fastball hitters and pitchers that go to their junk more often.

remarkably, a bit of research just showed me that Albert Pujols did not just have the worst 100+ RBI season of all time (by WAR). any guess who did?
Eno Sarris

Can't be Matt Kemp, or could it be? No, wait, someone like Tony Batista or Joe Carter?

Hey, remember when the Rangers, Expos, and Blue Jays finished a three team, three player swap with three first basemen (David Segui, Lee Stevens, and Brad Fullmer)?

I wonder how often there has been a three team trade with exactly three Major League players (possibly playing the same position) in history...?
Eno Sarris
1:23
The ultimate challenge trade. Doubt it's happened a lot.

Rumors of a Shark and Melacon for Heyward trade. Why would the Cubs do that?  How about Heyward for Shark plus $35Mill??
Eno Sarris
1:24
Dunno why the Giants would want to do that either...

I was looking at JAWS scores for second baseman and Chase Utley is a Hall of Famer by those standards. Obviously he was really good during his peak stretch, but does he *feel* like a Hall of Famer? Put me in my place, Eno.

Best player on a team that won a ton of games and a championship. Power, speed, plate discipline.
