Gerry , love your chats . It seems to me , the Steelers used to speak with one voice on matters & you sensed who was calling the shots .
Gerry Dulac
11:34
It may have been one voice, but there were several chefs stirring the stew

The fans are forever expecting mid to late round QBs to become franchise QBs.  They don’t seem to get it very rarely happens.  Mid to late round QBs are backups, if they become starters, it’s bonus, correct?

Good Morning Gerry!  My thoughts for today and a question for you sir. I believe for the NFL owners,  Football is all business and making as much Money as you can, while you can. For the folks in the media, this quarterback situation looming over Pittsburgh is actually a great storyline and media gold

Not when it drags out this long, sadly

followup to my statement above . Who besides Mr Rooney has the most say over personnel matters ? Mike Tomlin , or
Gerry Dulac
11:36
Art Rooney II tends to let his coach and GM do what they are paid to do. That being said, he has final say over all decisions if he doesn't like one

I see some mocks have the Steelers taking a RB in the first round. Given the depth at the position and the overwhelming need at DL, why would they take a RB first?
Gerry Dulac
11:36
I wouldn't rule it out, but I don't expect. Maybe with their next pick
Dicky Duncan
11:36
Sorry, follow up…. If somehow all three of them were gone, and you can’t trade out, do you take the next DTs down the line or pivot?
Gerry Dulac
11:37
I think maybe they pivot

This time of the year is generally frustrating for me as the so called experts put up their mock drafts. The Real draft seldom matches anything anyone predicts. With so much attention on the Rodgers circus and these mocks- when will real, serious conversation begin as far as Steeler draft and off season team building? What is your geuss on what the draft will bring?
Gerry Dulac
11:37
DL, RB, WR, QB

Followup to my question . If it is Mike , do you believe that’s the way it should be ? I don’t think Bill Cowher & Chuck Noll were ever given that type of authority, am I wrong ? Does that hinder the organization today in your opinion ?
Gerry Dulac
11:40
I think Mike Tomlin has more say than he did before with Kevin Colbert, but only because Omar Khan is still relatively new in his role. But, yes, Cowher had the same relationship with Colbert. Noll, though, often feuded with his personnel people, case in point, famously wanting Robert Newhouse instead of Franco Harris. Yikes

Hi Gerry. I've been disappointed the Steelers don't have a second round pick. Without taking the money into consideration (we all know NFL teams manipulate the cap all the time) do you believe Metcalf would be a second round steal if he were in this draft?
Gerry Dulac
11:40
Yes he would

11:40
If they reserve a big chunk of the cap for Mister Rodgers to come to our neighborhood, does that affect other moves like an extension for TJ?
Gerry Dulac
11:40
It won't be a big chunk of the cap for Rodgers

Good morning Mr. Dulac,  Can you please help us better understand how and why RW and AS were busy head butting each other on or around the time the Steelers offense put up 44 points in a W against the Bengals?  That offensive performance was the highlight of the year, and the reason it all went downhill from there is now the QB for the Giants?
Gerry Dulac
11:41
I don't think I have enough time and space to help break it down
Josh
11:41
A week or so ago, you were pretty confident the steelers would not draft a QB in round 1 in this draft, do you still have that same sense of confidence?
Gerry Dulac
11:42
Sense, not confidence

Hi Gerry, seems most of the DL the Steelers have had in for visits are projected to be drafted in the 3rd-5th rounds.  Any higher DL prospects coming in or what should we expect with 1st pick?
Gerry Dulac
11:42
You would certainly think so

Hi Gerry, Thanks for the chat.  If QB Sanders falls to the Steelers at 21, do they draft him?  Can you imagine if they did that?  The chats would be all about replacing Tomlin with Deion.  Don't know if i could take it. Lol.
Gerry Dulac

Me and you both

11:43
Very confused with the steelers and the lack of visits from the top d-lineman in this draft.  Do you think they know/seen enough from pro days with these guys, or are they really leaning another direction with their 1st pick?  I know the draft is deeper than usual with DL but that's all the more reason to get one early and another later! Derrick Henry still resides in this division...
Gerry Dulac
11:43
Maybe it's a smokescreen

hi Gerry, did they bring in sanders to get a reaction from Roger’s? Or are they just doing their due diligence?
Gerry Dulac
11:44
It wasn't for Rodgers' benefit
Steeltree
11:44
Gerry from what I’ve observed of Dart he has good size, above average but not elite arm, some but not great mobility. He seems to have issues with awareness in the pocket and is basically a one read qb.  Pretty much the same critique as one Masson Rudulph.  Do you see any real difference between them.
Gerry Dulac
11:45
Wow, that reads like a NFL.com draft profile

Hi Gerry, this waiting for Rodgers is frustrating and smells of desperation. I’m so disappointed in Steelers coaching and management.
Gerry Dulac
11:45
I don't think you're alone with that mindset

Any chance you and Ray F. host a tag-team, pre-draft chat?

I'll ask Ray

It's a know fact that the Steelers have one of the smallest coaching staffs in the NFL.  Is this dictated by ownership or is it a preference of Mike Tomlin?
Gerry Dulac
11:46
It's not that small. And, instead of worrying about size, how about quality??
