OK kids, we're going to start our chat in about 5-10 minutes so get ready....

OK, here we go...

Gerry, do you think the Steelers still wish to find a young franchise quarterback in the draft to lead them for years to come? Or have they changed their philosophy and prefer older experienced signal callers?
Gerry Dulac
9:52
I think they intend to draft a young franchise quarterback...but not this year. And, hopefully, not until they really think they got a good one. Problem is, unless you're drafting in the top 10, or if it's a really strong draft for QBs, it's not always a sure thing to get one of the really good ones when you're drafting where the Steelers tend to draft.

Given that the NFL is a profitable multi-million dollar business for team owners, would you agree they are less concerned about winning than fans?
Gerry Dulac
9:52
I would not

How about a dice roll on OBJ? If we lose division by one game it will be the loss to Dallas I blame the most what say you. If you're still in charm city Sunday morning swing by the PGA superstore in Kensington. It's Disney world for adult golfers. I'm a fitter try some new clubs.
Gerry Dulac
9:53
Thanx for the offer, would love to do that, but I have a master fitter here in the Burgh. Plus I wouldn't have time. But, as any fitter would know, you gotta find the right shaft for the right player, and OBJ isn't it.

Are we being lied to about Mike Williams “future involvement”? Who gets the majority of the blame for his lack of involvement? He isn’t even getting a high percentage of snaps. I know I’m not alone in this confusion. Hopkins gets traded to KC and he’s lighting it up.
Gerry Dulac
9:55
Oh, he's being more involved more, just not to the level everyone was expecting. And there's a reason -- he's not the old Mike Williams. He was Plan C after Brandon Aiyuk and Christian Kirk didn't work out.

Hi Gerry. In spite of the loss to the Eagles, I think the Steelers are still well positioned in the AFC. Except for the Bills, I believe the Steelers can beat any team in the AFC. Chiefs included. Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
9:56
That's what we're going to find out. That's what these three games are all about. The loss to the Eagles doesn't hurt. If they win the rest of their games, for example, who amongst the populace would have ever guessed they would be 13-4? I'll tell you who -- nobody

Steeler fans think that because they've had good luck recently against Baltimore that they're just going to walk into Baltimore and "own" the Ravens and Lamar. After the loss in Philly, I think Steeler fans are going to be very disappointed Saturday evening. What say you Gerry??
Gerry Dulac
9:57
I don't think anybody in the organization thinks they are going to "walk" into Baltimore and "own" the Ravens.

Hi Gerry. Tomlin's decision to punt on 4th down with just over 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter was puzzling. Down two scores and hoping your defense could get a stop in a game when they had been on the field forever and had struggled to contain the Eagles offense. To me, this was his worst decision in a game filled with coaching mistakes. Living in his fears perhaps by not going for it?
Gerry Dulac

Analytically speaking, I understand why he punted. But, from a realistic standpoint, what makes him or anyone think the Steelers were going to magically stop the Eagles from doing what they had been doing all game long and they'd get the ball back? And not just once, but twice. Sometimes coaching is about understanding the flow of the game and what you're watching with your own eyes, not about analytics.

Good morning Gerry, I’ve been riding high with the Steeler season but in the back of my mind I’ve feared a disaster against playoff caliber teams like last Sunday in Philly. Baltimore and KC games now seems like Wyatt Earp to Doc Holliday In Tombstone, “I can’t beat him, can I”? To Doc saying “No”. If possible, talk me off the ledge Gerry. Happy Holidays!
Gerry Dulac

I suggest you wait and see how they respond in Baltimore before you panic. Living in your fears like that suggests you are either 1) living in your fears and having a hard time breathing during every game, or 2) you just don't believe the Steelers are any good, despite leading the division.

If we don’t win a playoff game, and let’s assume all phases of the Steelers struggle in said playoff game. What do we do about QB in 2025?
Gerry Dulac
10:03
Let's wait and see what happens. Right now, you should know that answer

If MT. Washington would have stopped his monster block 2 yards short of the wall, I belive no penalty is called on steelers and one is called on Slade. Agree ?
Gerry Dulac

You're probably right

Ist round next year. DL or WR ?
Gerry Dulac
10:05
Don't even ask me -- DL. Here's how I would draft in order -- DL, DL, WR, RB, WR. Any other picks are a waste.

Hi Gerry. Do you believe getting intel from a former player, in this case Kenny Pickett, helps a team to win? My 2nd question, is getting outcoached overrated? Is it just Philadelphia is the better team?
Gerry Dulac
10:07
No I don't. In this instance, Philadelphia is the better team and it wasn't about being out-coached, even though Tomlin said the coaching should be partly responsible. Getting out-coached usually occurs when the lesser team manages to beat the better team.

Is the O-line a problem? Since Ben retired how would you critique the O-line? Individuality they seem amazing, but together as a unit I scratch my head sometimes and wonder what’s going on here. (And I am not a coach, just a fan)

Steelers win on Saturday,  who doesn't get a helmet on Christmas ?

They all do

Good morning Gerry, will Corey Drive get on the field this week? If so, how will he be used?
Gerry Dulac

I'm guessing you mean Corey Trice. And not sure

Hi Gerry, love your chats!  I’m surprised that they don’t use Washington as the fullback instead of Heyward in short yardage situations.  Is there a reason for this? Thx!
Gerry Dulac
10:09
Maybe because he's too tall to get low enough. They kinda like where they use him.

Hey Gerry, Darius Slay mentioned how instrumental Kenny Pickett was in making their defense great and that they were playing for him on Sunday. I know it's too late this season, but given the defensive struggles in the second half, do you think there could be a spot on the Steelers roster for Pickett next year to help that side of the ball improve?
Gerry Dulac
10:09
Nope

Jameis Winston would be such a great quarterback if he weren’t an interception machine. Why do you suppose no one has ever been able to coach it out of him?
Gerry Dulac
10:10
I think it's in his DNA

Do you get the feeling that MT detractors will never be satisfied no matter what the season result is? The time out issue before halftime wasn't really an issue. There were still over 35 seconds on the clock when they kicked the FG & I believe they still had a TO.
Gerry Dulac
10:10
They usually never are. I have yet to see where it cost them the game. Maybe a couple points, but not a game. It's called nit-picking

Will we see more Jaylen Warren this week? He seems to be the more effective back now that he is healthy.
