OK, kids, I see we have a few questions already in the store, so lets get started

Gerry,  Simple solution those who want to stand come out and those who don't stay in the locker room until it is over.  Do you agree?
Gerry Dulac
10:53
I like it. BTW, nice song

I read Ben's comments about the defense making fun of his interceptions early in OTA's and that he wanted to cut them down.  Now he is saying he isn't going to worry about the play makers and just make good decisions.  Is that thought process part of the problem of the defense?  Ben always took shots and yes, got intercepted, but the team moved the ball and put up points.  Now, we have all this talent and score 20 a game.
Gerry Dulac
10:55
That's not the reason for the stagnant offense, I think there are many. But, as we have seen the last two games, he has not been shy about attacking downfield. The problem has been completing em

Last week the Bear's running backs would run toward the right side of the line, plan their foot and cut back to the left against the pursuing defensive line of the Steelers.  It seems like the Steelers lose one game every season because of this.  Why do they have such difficulty against
Gerry Dulac
10:56
That's what they call a "stretch play," and yes they have had difficulty against it for years. The idea is to take advantage of an aggressive that tends to over-pursue and get them out of their gaps.

It seems as if the Steelers may have lost a game to an inferior team at least in part because the coaches and players attention was more on the national anthem than the upcoming game. Isn't the simplest solution to all this for the league to keep all teams in the locker room
Gerry Dulac
10:56
That's what they used to do before 2009 and I suggest they start doing it again.

Last week the Bears running backs had success in cut backs against the Steelers defensive front seven. It seems that the Steelers lose one game every season because of that. Why is it so difficult for them tho adjust to that during the game when other teams like New England can adjust to that from one series to the next?

You just asked this in a different form

Gerry, Ben has been contemplating retirement. Do you think the recent turmoil in the NFL will increase the likelihood that this is his last year?
Gerry Dulac
10:57
No, but I wouldn't blame him if it did.

Do you think that the NFL and it's players are making a mistake by protesting during the anthem, or do you think that the machine is too big to fail?  I'm not watching anymore this season, not so much because of the Steelers, but the NFL in general.

I hear ya, and I don't blame any fan who gets turned off by the stuff they witness on the field, or off. And it's not just the anthem protests. It's the nonsense on social media, the behavior in general by some, celebrating average plays, et al. The machine is big, and it won't fail. But that doesn't mean it won't sputter and stall.

Hi Gerry - Which of the following players are playing on Sunday? Gilbert, Foster, Watt, Tuitt, Davis?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
Too early to tell, but I do believe Tuitt will return. He could've played last week, but he wasn't 100 percent so they decided to wait.

The Steelers are 5-13 in their last 18 road games against losing teams and 9-10 against losing teams since 2014. While I think Tomlin is a top NFL coach, will he both admit and fix the problem of playing down to bad teams?
Gerry Dulac
11:02
I'm just curious -- is that record against teams who had losing records at the time the Steelers played them or losing records at the end of the season?

Hi Gerry - Artie Burns was beyond blatantly held on the winning touchdown vs Bears. I know the referees get reviewed, but any idea why it never seems to help?
Gerry Dulac
11:03
I don't think it's ever going to help. The only person it's going to hurt is the official when he gets reviewed and maybe has enough demerits to not get a playoff game.

Any idea why the offensive (false start) penalty with 0:00 left in the half allowed the Bears a FG try? Thought only defensive penalties could extend a half.
Gerry Dulac
11:07
It was an untimed play, so because the play never occurred (pre-snap penalty) it was still an untimed play

My FB feed is filled with the Haters/Thickheaded people that still don't get that they were trying to stay out of all the political/NON-football B.S. What is your thoughts on a response to them? Also, in regard to the National Anthem in the future - What/How do you feel they go from here? I believe no matter what they do from here, the Public/Haters/Thickheaded people (not myself) will feel it is WRONG.
Gerry Dulac
11:09
I feel the way you do. And I have no response to them. My job is to explain what happened and why. I can't control what people think or what they perceive, especially the uneducated ones who have been flooding the Steelers offices with phone calls using language you won't hear in most R movies

Gerry. I do realize that players have to execute the plays that are called, but some of Todd Haley's play calling is shaky to say the least. Do Agree or disagree?
Gerry Dulac
11:10
I don't debate the sequence of play calls, in part because some plays can be checked off by Ben at the line of scrimmage. I just evaluate the results, and so far they haven't exactly been impressive or productive
Jon

I saw your report card this week on last weeks game and agreed with 99% of it. What can this team do this week when failing in so many areas to play a solid game?
Gerry Dulac
11:11
Which 1 percent didn't you agree with?
11:12
Look, just because they failed in some areas, even a lot of areas, one week doesn't mean they will the next. In fact, you see that all the time in the NFL. They will get it corrected. Give it some times. You can worry later if it keeps happening.

Please explain why the Bears got another play after committing a penalty at the end of the first half.  There was no time on the clock when they committed the penalty.
Gerry Dulac
11:13
See above. It was untimed play (:00 on the clock) and the penalty occurred before the snap. So they still get the untimed play.

I'm surprised we aren't hearing more clamor for James Conner...how many more lackluster performances from Bell before we see a change?
Gerry Dulac
11:15
Well, you're not going to see a change unless there is an injury, rest assured. I think it's apparent the Steelers are going to run Bell no matter what and not even give a series or few plays to Conner. That doesn't surprise me, generally speaking, but it does to a degree when Bell just isn't producing the way to which they are accustomed
Jon
11:15
To me the biggest disappointment on this team (along with shaky play calls) has been the offensive line play. (An area that I thought was going to be one of the tops in the league.)                                                   What in your opinion has gone wrong?
Gerry Dulac
11:15
That has been one of the contributors, especially in the run game.
sbs
11:15
When can we expect them to sit Bell and let the other RBs repeatedly hit the hole fast and power through like Watson did in preseason and Jordan Howard just did last Sunday to them.

Gerry, on that blocked field goal and fumble, if that ball was recovered by steelers in the endzone would it have been a touch back? On the other hand, if the ball was recovered by Bears in the end zone,  they have gotten it at 2 yard line but half would have been over since the time would have expired in both cases right? So is there a difference between steelers recovering it and letting the Bears have it?
Gerry Dulac
11:17
As far as I know, none. But they wouldn't "let" the Bears have it because, in that moment, nobody could be sure whether that dumb Marcus Copper had actually scored or not.
